I have a strong dislike for this man, his history, and his current administrations policies.
It seems like Carney’s plan is a levelheaded, measured approach to ride this out as things continue to economically deteriorate in the States far enough to force a change in course.
Trump & Co. are absolute morons, however, so who knows how that will actually play out when the time comes. He doesn’t care about the American population.
Not sure Carney could be doing any better based on the hand he’s been dealt.
I think it’s just a matter of time before orange man, lose the grip. Attacking all these countries at the same time. I think the stress and loss of overview will take him out.
The US is punching itself in the dick economically, it’s currently in a cold civil war – soon to turn hot, pretty soon Canada and the world won’t have to do anything the US says.
trump isn’t ready to put tariffs on Russia. Russia has no new tariffs from trump and this is an excuse to keep it that way. He is under Putin’s thumb.
Canada and other countries have to handle his bullshit. It’s especially difficult for Canada since trump wants to annex us just like Russia is trying to do to Ukraine. This is somewhere down his to-do list after breaking American democracy and ripping up its much vaunted constitution.

I find it ironic that at the start of the war economic sanctions were being out in force. “Crippling sanctions” is the term used I believe. So now there is more to be done? At this point my questions are. Why wasn’t all the stops pulled out at the start of the conflict. Why are NATO navies not actively curtailing the black market trade in Russian oil? Rather than putting the onus on EU governments who will get nothing but backlash from their population. Seize the ships and their oil. Feeding the oil into their refineries with the proceeds going to Ukraine. Either in cash or as long range weapons allowing Ukraine to further dismantle Russian refining capacity. Capacity that the last I heard was down 25-30% a week ago. Lastly as I am convinced the USA(trump)is a Russian instrument. I would take anything the trumpster demands with a grain of salt. Flat out refuse to do it even.
Sounds like Canada needs to build some of its own nukes to ensure its own security against the treacherous U.S.A.

Trump will not sanction Russia in any circumstance. The reality is that the West without the USA will have move ahead while the Americans go to war with one another.

What authority does Trump have here anyway, he pulled the US out of the UN. He has no business telling UN member countries what to do. The members of the United Nations will make their own determination.
