thats a worrying situation even if the drone circled back, it shows how close the conflict is spilling over into neighboring countries

    2. Oh well I’m glad we returned it in good condition. It would be a shame if we damaged the illegally invading murderbot.

Oh, so Russia can now use NATO air space, disrupt air traffic and safety, to launch missile attacks on Ukraine from, say, Mediterranean Sea?

I think at the bare minimum, there’s needs to be an integrated air defence system over Ukraine, Romania and Poland, hopefully with some kind of agreement with Moldova. There shouldn’t be a situation where one of those countries leaves it for the others. With Ukrainian experience, NATO can quickly learn how to defend against this attacks, blunt Russian aggression, and save the lives of many civilians.

Hopefully that drone didn’t go on to kill anybody somewhere else

    6. should have shot it down. don’t give them any leeway on airspace violations.

    7. Thanks for giving Russia the greenlight to keep doing it. Must be nice for russia to have confirmation that their drones can repeatedly enter another countries airspace without getting shot down as long as they eventually turn back to bomb Ukrainian civilians

how much of a target is romania? and how well are they equipped to defend themselves?

Down all and everything in a 500km buffer zone around NATO territory. Putins war rhetoric is justification enough. He wants the Cuba crisis or checkpoint charlie level standoff. The only boundaries a bully knows is slapped into him with a belt.

While I sympathise with Romania’s difficulty shooting down these drones, not shooting them down or taking some me level of retalitory action against Russia, signels weakness and vulnerability to Russia. They will instinctively push further, especially if they feel they can routeenly use Romania’s airspece to strike at Ukraine.

    11. Didn’t think I would live to the day when NATO becomes a paper tiger. If you can’t show force in a low stake situation like this, then there is zero confidence that any of you chickenshits gonna send troops to fight Russians once they invade small nations like the Baltics.

The day Article 5 is activated, I guarantee half of the alliance will try to argue that „helping defend“ doesn’t mean directly fighting Russians to weasel out of this.

    12. Romania has always held this position of the coward in the eastern flank, historically and also presently. This is just par for the course.

      false

and not logic. if downed, could not have turned to ukr, so impossible to claim it was not downed because of that

Stupid move because now that Ruzzia has tested the defences there will be more.

Of course, saying they ‘didn’t’ shoot it down and let it cross back into Ukraine, while actually shooting it down would be the smartest move….🤫

As an elder millennial it’s so crazy that my entire life I thought of NATO as this kind of „not to be messed with“ absolute powerhouse that protected everyone and it’s depressing and scary to find out its a complete joke.

A profile in courage. Look, Russia is scary and if I was the president of a small country, unsure if NATO is a thing, *for real*, when the chips are down, I would hesitate, too. But then I would remember that Russia wouldn’t oppress or butcher my countrymen *less* once they get through Ukraine because I let them use our airspace, and I’d push the button like a grown up.
