I really hope the government is making encouraging YIMBY oriented zoning/land-use reform for provinces & municipalities a significant part of their housing policy. Its by and far the most significant step forward for improving housing affordability and availability and will do more than all of the other housing policies proposed by the government combined. (as well as contributing to big gains in wage & GDP growth and reductions in income inequality etc.)
Everything else the government is proposing on housing is well and good, I just don’t think it should distract from YIMBY oriented reforms.
