A wasp?? They can leave big red marks. But depends on how old the bite sting was. Reddit doctor out!✌🏻
Erythema migrans from Lyme disease/borreliosis after a tick bite.
Contact a doctor for antibiotics.
Brown recluse, maybe?
Could be a reaction to anything that bites, mozzies, sandflys, spiders, ticks, mites, main thing is to treat it like a tick bite and do a few different rounds of antibiotics, I can’t remember what ones specifically but there is a protocol to follow.
My wife got bit by a tick, she got sick and it took us 10 years to get her health back.
She had a bullseye rash similar to this and at the time we didn’t know any better. We were told
It was a red back spider bite, if only it was, she would have been better after a few days.
I don’t know what country you are in but here in Australia you have to get it treated asap as the Australian medical board does not recognise the bacterial infection you get from a tick bite.
We had to go overseas in the end to get treatment, cost us tens of thousands and multiple trips, but she is better.
So please stay on top of the treatment, the antibiotics specifically.
I know if places like the us or the uk you can get treated for tick bites and treated humanely about it too. If you are in Australia, find a doctor who will actually get you the antibiotics you need and give you the courses needed.
My wife insist you have to do more than 28days of antibiotics as the bacteria has a life cycle of 28days, so 4 weeks at least!
There are several medical sound tools and applications that utilize image recognition to help identify inflammatory bites, primarily insect bites. These tools are designed to analyze photos of bites and provide potential identifications and information.
AI-Powered Insect Bite Identification Apps
Several mobile applications leverage artificial intelligence and image recognition to identify insect bites:
Insect Bite Identification (Apple App Store): This app uses advanced image recognition technology. Users can take a photo of the affected area, and the app analyzes the image to provide a detailed report, identifying bites from mosquitoes, spiders, fleas, ticks, bed bugs, and other insects
1
.
Insect Bite ID: AI Scanner (Apple App Store): This app functions as an AI-powered tool that uses image-based analysis to quickly identify common insect bites. It suggests likely culprits and offers information based on the provided photo
2
.
Bug Bit Me (YesChat): This is an AI-powered tool that analyzes images of insect bites and skin rashes. It offers users information and potential identifications to help guide health decisions
3
.
Bite Sense: This app uses AI, specifically a convolutional neural network, to classify insect bites from uploaded pictures. It also includes a chatbot trained to provide information on insect bites and their treatments
4
.
How These Tools Work
These applications typically function by:
Image Capture: Users upload or take a photo of the bite or rash.
Image Analysis: The app’s AI algorithms analyze the visual characteristics of the bite, such as shape, color, size, and pattern.
Identification: Based on the analysis, the app suggests the most probable cause of the bite, such as a mosquito, spider, or other insect.
Information and Guidance: Many apps provide additional information about the identified bite, including symptoms, potential risks, and recommended first-aid or treatment steps.
Understanding Inflammation
While these tools focus on identifying the cause of a bite, general signs of inflammation, which can occur with bites, include redness, heat, swelling, and pain
5
. If a bite appears infected, it’s important to seek medical advice
6
.
It’s important to note that while these tools can be helpful for identification, they are not a substitute for professional medical diagnosis. If you have concerns about a bite, especially if you experience severe reactions or signs of infection, consult a healthcare provider.

If it’s itchy, it could be an ant bite.
Not a bite. MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria. It is an abscess that will get bigger, redder, and painful. E.R for very strong antibiotics, before tte abscess grows (which happens quite fast), hopefully the antibiotics kick in, in time to halt growth…if not the abscesses may have to be lanced, and drained…very painful. Go, now.
Lyme’s Disease 100%. Go immediately and get a blood draw and get started on Doxy.
Classic bullseye rash from a tick bite
Tick, that ring is pretty telling
Tick. This is erythema migrans due to lyme disease. Is it itchy? If not, definitely erythema migrans. Take her to a doctor and get her on antibiotics.
Id ask for doxycycline because it’s stronger than amoxicillin, it’s probably a tick bite. If it is Lyme’s, catching it early makes all the difference.
Horse fly possible
If the doctor can identify that kind of bite, find another doctor, that’s a tick bite. She needs antibiotics.
That’s a tick. Go to the doc!
Definitely looks like a tick bite so getting the antibiotics was a good idea but I’ve had a spider bite that looked like that. It was very hard, hot and swollen plus itchy. Took days for it to calm down even a little. So could be a spider bite.
Agreed. Tick bite.
Tick
Had a similar from a paperwasp, which did turn a very angry red. Doc prescribed steroids and antibiotics.
Tick as fuck. Go to the doctor!!!!
The doctors didn’t know after careful, in person, examination. Definitely consult Reddit. Reddit is known to be careful, ask questions to clarify circumstances, have years of training, and never take extreme stances based on limited information. Wait, no, I confused Reddit with trained professionals.
The doctors won’t say what it is because they can’t be sure. And they don’t want to put ideas into your head that may be wrong. They are trained professionals and are specifically saying „I don’t know“ so that they do not lock you or themselves into a specific line of reasoning without proof. Now you have asked Reddit, and Reddit is sure this is Lyme Disease from a tick bite. Now, next time you see the doctor, you will say things like, „When she got bit by a tick…“ or you may start to notice symptoms to meet you bias „She just seems more fatigued.“ Now, the doctors start treating based on the information you got from Reddit. The information you got from Reddit in r/outdoors. Not r/doctors or r/dermatologist. This is a great place to ask about how to set up a tent. This is not a great place to look for medical diagnosis.
I’m not saying it isn’t Lyme or a tick bite. I am saying we don’t know because you haven’t provided enough information and we are not here as medical professionals.
See a doctor as soon as possible. That is an indication of Lyme disease from a tick bite( look up bullseye and Lyme disease)
Hospital ASAP
I had something similar to this. It could be Lyme, and best to play it safe and go to a doctor. The other cause for bullseye is a brown recluse. However, unless you have a really old house or live in the woods this kind of but is pretty unlikely.
Look to see if a tick head is in the center. You may have scratched off the body. Otherwise it’s likely a spider bite.
While I agree this looks like a tick bite to me, my stepson gets a crazy reaction sometimes with mosquito bites that look just like this. They call it „skeeter syndrome“ he doesn’t get it every time, but often the first several of the season look like this.
