We do need to dispense with this overly empathetic approach to law enforcement where we don’t adequately punish people for committing heinous crimes. It’s offensive that the crown even wants to cut a deal in a case like this, which to me seems like an abdication of their duty to ensure public safety by locking violent criminals up.
It is not the point of the police to petition the Crown Attorney on cutting a plea deal with the accused. The police should stay in their lane. Not that they are very good at enforcing law in their current state. [How about their infiltration by the far right? Or one better how about that idiot police sergeant that sympathized with the convoy and created bad intelligence about it?
