In 2014 homeless figures were 2400…fucking stark
The housing drama queens on here will have a stroke if bedsit came back
I will always maintain that banning bedsits outright was a silly and knee jerk move.
I find it hard to believe that there’s thousands of bedsits out there unused in this market. When they were banned they would either be rented out as part of a house share or rent a room.
I moved into a new build estate in December 2022 in phase 1.
4 houses were assigned to social housing (it was a small estate). These houses were part of phase 1 and finished, ready to move in in 2022.
It was only last month in 2025 people got them. The council took 3 years, I say again 3 DAMN YEARS to make them available to people due to how slow the council works. They just sat empty all that time.
Is this opinion piece backed up by any stats on the number of bedsit buildings actually stuck in limbo?
