Good. This Pope seems to continue on the path of Francis.

The trouble with rapists is that they tend to not to tell their bosses what they have done and I think this fact is sometimes overlooked.

In many Catholic countries in Western Europe, this train has already left the station; the Catholic Church no longer has moral authority.

In Germany, even in Catholic strongholds, streets named after former bishops and archbishops are now being renamed. Every abuse report in the dioceses shatters the legacy of these people.

Since we pay church tax, the Catholic Church has precise membership figures. In 1990, the Catholic Church in Germany had 28.3 million members; today, it has 19.3 million, and over 300,000 people leave every year.

And the attitude towards abuse can be described as ambivalent, to put it politely. From the diocese to which my hometown also belongs.

„An art installation on sexualised violence in Limburg Cathedral was supposed to be on display until Sunday, according to the wishes of those affected. But because of the Feast of the Cross, it is ending three days early. The diocese’s decision is causing discontent.

The committee quotes an argument from the diocese that the wooden silhouettes take away seating space for cathedral visitors. In addition, visitors are confronted with references to sexual violence without being asked. This raises questions among the victims‘ advisory board: ‘What is the value of a culture of remembrance in which the fear of causing irritation is so great that one shies away from presenting bitter truths?’“
