Are they gonna arrest the reporter who wrote it? HATE SPEECH!

>The [BBC](https://deadline.com/tag/bbc/) has said that its rolling news channel broke editorial rules after a presenter described [Hamas](https://deadline.com/tag/hamas/) as a “terror group.” The BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit (ECU) ruled that it was wrong of the unnamed presenter to use the phrase during a broadcast on June 15.
>Published on Thursday, the ruling will likely re-ignite an impassioned debate about how the UK national broadcaster characterizes Hamas.
>Since the atrocities of October 7 in Israel, during which around 1,200 people were killed by Hamas militants, the BBC has steadfastly refused to call the group “terrorists.”
>The BBC’s editorial guidelines state: “The term ‘terrorist’ should only be used with attribution, ie when quoting or citing its use by others”.

How dare they state their own government’s policy?
Whatever your stance is on the whole matter: They are. There should be no denying about it.

BBC is a terror group at this point, they certainly carry enough water excusing Jihadist violence.

They better be asking everyone for their pronouns.

For anyone who is having trouble understanding why a policy like this exists, consider the following hypothetical:
————
At some point in the future Trump declares the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) a terrorist organization. He then bullies the UK government at the time to follow suit.
Should the BBC permit its presenters to call the ACLU terrorists as though it’s the BBC’s opinion or some kind of universally accepted natural fact? Or should the BBC only use that terrorist designation with careful citation so as not to participate in Trump’s propaganda?
—————-
Ultimately their policy isn’t about Hamas, it’s about the use of a potentially powerful and inflammatory term

They let the truth slip out once and now they wanna pull that back? How about running baseless stories without cross checking? BBC used to mean integrity but now it just means Hamas mouth piece

But… they are? Like, clearly. They may do other stuff, but terror is their big thing.

Calling out crimes by Israel doesn’t mean ignoring heinous crimes done by others. Awful and outrageous

I’m confused.
Of course Hamas is a terrorist group.
Oct 7, 2024 (2023?) attack on festival in Israel, killing many, raping the living (and the dead?), taking hostages, hiding their bases within hospitals.
What more do you need to call a group a “terrorist” group?
Insurrection?

Stories like this are strange. What the hell is going on inside the BBC?
The BBC’s editorial guidelines state: “The term ‘terrorist’ should only be used with attribution, ie when quoting or citing its use by others
But this is less exciting. Who gives a fuck anyway. Most morons only read the headline and get themselves into a froth, just as planned
So where’s the balen report?
Meaningless they hold themselves to a level they never achieve.. BBC have always been British government propaganda not news..
So how does the BBC refer to ISIS? Are they just a simple “Islamic Activist Group”?
They are though, and so is the IDF
If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck…….
I do understand this.
It’s to maintain distance – the rule exists to prevent them from describing the world, but to let the world describe itself.
This DOES make sense.
A reminder that antisemitism is rampant at the BBC.

Wild that calling terrorists terrorists is taboo.
