      Genuinely someone explain this to me, because natural gas prices are still well below their 2022 peak and oil is on the floor.

      I don’t understand how can they change prices mid-contract. I’m with Bord Gais since January, so I should be locked in in the same lower prices until the contract is over. The email said of course I have the option to cancel it within 30 days if I don’t agree, but shouldn’t the price be honored until my contract is over and then go up? What’s the point of the contract then if the prices can increase midway?

      These poor businesses must be really struggling if they have to jack up their prices like this.

      “Bord Gáis Energy, part of Centrica plc, today announced a profit of €39 million for the first half of 2025”

      “Pinergy, the energy transition company, has reported revenues of €215m for the year ended 31 December 2023. This represents growth of 38% on the previous year. “

      Oh. Never mind.

      Between energy prices and health insurance going up on top of never ending rises in food costs AND the new Mandatory Enrollment Pension tax starting in January taking up most if not all of people’s pay rises next year AND the government saying we don’t need any cost of living help because everything is okay now then it’s going to be a very bleak winter for a LOT of people.
