After FBI Director Kash Patel incorrectly announced that law enforcement had caught the person responsible for assassinating right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk — a declaration that was quickly, and embarrassingly, walked back — even some of the Trump administration’s biggest cheerleaders were fed up.
The far-right criticism echoes what Democrats had said about Patel, who became a right-wing entrepreneur and podcaster after serving in the first Trump administration, back when Senate Republicans confirmed him to his position in February.

I don’t think they will catch the shooter. I don’t even think they’ll try. Narrative is much more important to them than facts. Why arrest someone when you can just conjure up some armed boogeyman on the run.

Someone needs to make a documentary about that old guy they initially were saying they had arrested for doing it.
There’s a link about him in the article, but in summary, he’s been doing random small irritating political stunts since the 80s, and yesterday must have been the highlight of his life. A lifetime of buildup from being a minor nuisance to getting hauled away, after a major political assassination, with his pants falling around his ankles after claiming to have done it.
