    1. Who said it? Iran or a European country who claims to be on the right side of history lmao

Or how about because the EU leaders kept enabling the newly dead Hamas leaders to keep delaying negotiation talks by entertaining the idea of giving them a statehood as a reward for starting a war with a massacre?

Hamas was clearly motivated by Macron’s moronic decision to declare he was going to recognize Palestine as a state, the US diplomats stated his decision killed peace talk efforts progress they had made. Hamas was not about to agree to surrender when they are see light at the end of the tunnel, they just have to keep getting more of there people killed and EU leaders will fold and eventually agree to let Hamas be said rulers of the country. Anyone who seriously thinks the PA could hold power in a Palestine state is delusional, if Hamas got them a state they’d immediately overwhelm the PA in popularity and numbers

All of this is irrelevant now because those Hamas leaders are in a morgue and the US won’t be giving any leniency to Hamas anymore

    3. We remember very well how the Spanish treated us in 1492, not shocked It hasn’t changed.

    4. They want to use a weapon that is known to devastate lands and leave dangerous fallout (which gets carried far thanks to wind) on a country that directly neighbors the one they’re trying to save?

77,000 in the Spanish army. If they really cared, they’d invade and restore peace. I wonder why they don’t?

That’s such a bizarre take. The main problem is that no sane person wants to stand in front of a hostile Israeli military. That’s why the only countries that are openly hostile to Israel are Palestine and Iran, and Iran uses terrorist organizations as a shield so they don’t have to do anything themselves.

Even if Spain did have nukes, that’s not gonna change anything, Israel has nukes too. That just puts you back at square one.

Yikes, really? Russia has been seizing land and trying to invade Ukraine for over a decade and Hamas’ attack on Israel and the latter’s reaction is what makes this guy wish Spain could militarily engage?

Isn’t Spain one of the few countries that isn’t meeting the 2-5% GDP NATO target? You’re riding NATO’s dick on defense while Eastern and Northern Europe are actually solidifying their defense against an active threat.

I don’t even care about Israel and far less for Hamas / Palestine but this is a pretty smoothbrain line of thinking

Suddenly killing large numbers of civilians isn’t so bad 😉 These people are all such hypocrites.

    9. Maybe spain should start spending money on their nato budget, then maybe they can join the big kids table and other countries might even listen to them.

    10. Full qoute.

      > Spain as you know, doesn’t have nuclear bombs, nor aircraft carriers, nor large oil reserves. We alone can’t stop the Israeli offensive.

      > „But that doesn’t mean we won’t stop trying because there are causes worth fighting for even if it’s not in our sole power to win them.”

      > Referring to the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Sánchez added: “That isn’t defending yourself; that’s not even attacking. It’s exterminating defenceless people. It’s breaking all the rules of humanitarian law.”

    11. He basically said that Spain is no superpower and has no influence over any involved country, and only the US could tell Israel to stop.

But I’m pretty sure the Times of Israel has a better and non biased interpretation of his words.

    12. All of you reading this headline without even trying to look for the context should be ashamed of yourselves. Fake news exists because of people who don’t care enough to look for real news.

Sounds like good material for South Park. What else does this guy say?

    14. Okay, just for clarifying:

He is not saying „We wish we could use Nuclear bombs to stop Israel“.

He´s saying that since Spain is not world power with access to Aircraft Carriers, petroleum or Nucelar Weapons, they cannot stop Israel by themselves.

But they will still try, he also clarifies.

Also, the news page got a fact wrong: he´s not a far-right leader, he´s from the Left party, the PSOE

    15. What he said: “Spain, as you know, doesn’t have nuclear bombs, nor aircraft carriers, nor large oil reserves,” Sanchez was quoted as saying during the Monday press event. “We alone can’t stop the Israeli offensive,” he said.“  That is not saying he laments not having nuclear weapons.

    16. Politically Sanchez is cooked. He and his party are embroiled in corruption allegations and the Gaza war has been a very helpful foreign policy distraction that plays well with his left/far-left base, which is why he puts out a new statement on it once a week or so.

    17. That’s a weird thing to say.

And if Spain had the hard power and resources? What then? Will they declare war on Israel and nuke it? Countries with those means are already incapable of stopping the war.

    18. Spain has a standing army. The most effective thing they could do is put boots on the ground as a peacekeeping force so that supplies could go to the needy.

Will they? No. In standard European fashion, they’ll write a strongly worded letter condemning the actions and will wag their finger. Aggressively

    19. Interesting how their focus is stopping Israel vs. helping people in Gaza.

      What about the hostages?

    20. You could urge Hamas to return the hostages, or use your ships to evacuate Gazan civilians.

    21. Gato__negro on

So what are the new nuking standards by this logic ? if Russis decides or North Korea decide to nuke a country then this will be fine?

    22. ScheisseMcSchnauzer on

I love how many people seem to genuinely think that Spain and Ireland care about Gaza rather than it just being a convenient dead cat story to distract from both of their respective governments circling the drain

    23. java-with-pointers on

A raging antisemite, there is no way to justify exterminating 2 nations to stop an ongoing war between them.

    24. Mental_Sun_9455 on

The spanish left is complete out of control. Same shit as the extreme right.

    25. No_Worldliness_7106 on

As if it having nukes could stop the war either. What a dumb thing to say.
