This thread is going to go well, where’s my popcorn?
Republicans just need their latest excuse to pearl clutch.
You are allowed to condemn everyone’s actions in this scenario.
The guy who was an asshole for a living AND the asshole who shot him.
He promoted stochastic terrorism. He might not have been the one who pulled the trigger, but he groomed a lot of right wingers into pulling the trigger.
He was never an honest debtor who cared about free speech, nor the free exchange of ideas. He was a bad faith clown that hurt a lot of people.
Edit: No, I’m not interested in bad faith *“debate me, bro“* posts.
Well said!
Imagine if the left called for „patriots“ to help Charlie Kirk’s shooter.
Multiple things can be true:
– He did not deserve to die. His family did not deserve to lose a father
– In his life he was a vile, racist, misogynist monster who stoked the flames of violence and promoted hatred toward fellow Americans and foreigners
Republicans enable a violent society and then when they inevitably become the victims of it themselves, they curse anyone and everyone for letting it happen to them.
If you preach hatred, don’t be mad if it finds you
Kirk died promoting the thing that got him killed. Thoughts and prayers, since that’s only action taken in the states.
“I think it’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.” – Charlie Kirk
You can condemn Kirk’s wildly awful and dangerous rhetoric, and at the same time, also condemn his cold-blooded murder.
Two things can be true at the same time.

Can’t wait to find out his killer was a MAGA that abandoned all of his friends and family for Trump at the behest of Kirk only to find out he was a child rapist and Kirk was covering for him.
Kirk felt some deaths were unfortunately acceptable in order to have the 2A, and it’s unfortunate he became one of them. He also thought empathy was a new woke creation, so I would not subject him or his family to a thing he didn’t want. It would seem the best way to honor what he believed is to simply acknowledge it happened and move on with our lives.
I did not know Charlie Kirk had a kid, the more I think about it the more I feel bad for the kid. Kid didn’t choose who his parents where or opt in, heck it must have been tough to be in that family last week I can only imagine the rough times ahead and I hope that kid manages to turn out okay.
He was a bigot who made a fortune from a platform of hate and division. He has contributed greatly to the divided nation that America is today. Condolences to his family, but it can not be neglected that he is a casualty of his own rhetoric
While i cant say i have not seen people celebrating his demise, the vast majority of those on the left have taken the position of „No one should be killed, his poor family, but he was not a good human being“
And i think that’s a fair and honest take.
Thank you
In 2023, in the wake of the shooting at Christian Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee – which claimed the lives of three children and three adults – Kirk said that gun deaths in exchange for the preservation of Second Amendment Rights is a part of America’s reality.
I guess he did his part in protecting the second amendment
I’ve seen a lot of people in my communities condemning violence who also didn’t say shit when Melissa and Mark Hortman were murdered in their home.
This is the most sane take I’ve seen since he was killed.
What were they expecting to happen?
I know. They were expecting the violence to target poor people, black and brown people, children, drag queens, gay people, trans people, and immigrants (documentation status doesn’t matter). They are so confident that they will be protected and this shattered their illusion.
He wanted violence. He wanted kids to witness a public execution. He was ok with more gun deaths in order to keep the second amendment. I don’t know why people are sad. He basically got everything he believed in. I guess God just needed him.
apparently airing his own quotes is „celebrating“ his death though.
As a black physician, the vitriol he extended toward black physicians and black pilots was personal. Especially since he was a community college dropout. Nasty piece of work.
The amount of people essentially saying „If you don’t mourn for this man, you’re pro murder!“ is insane.
I can condemn his assassination, and also not care that he died. Those things are not mutually exclusive.
He was such a vile and hateful human…
Pfft. Just another gun death. I’m moving on. Looks like [Trump is melting.](https://bsky.app/profile/jeremykaplowitz.com/post/3lylctxlp3c2a)
For the first time today I decided to go to his page and click on a random video. Within one minute he was misstating and pulling data completely out of context to demonize liberal women – because supposedly they’re not prioritizing children.
Every other YouTube streamer is hashtagging Democrats and holding them primarily responsible for Kirk’s death… what a bunch of whiny bitches.
Is his murder related to his disgusting, vile, dangerous and morbid hatred that he fired all over the country? Yes.
History shows that the death of a fascist is generally a good thing.
Imagine that your last words before being shot were downplaying gun violence in America under a banner that says: „Prove Me Wrong“
The entire media sphere went ahead and whitewashed his views instantly. They called him a father, a conservative influencer, but none of them have said what his views were, or even played a single video of his show.
Seriously, I’m seeing some real ass revisionism about what exactly he preached. He was one of the worse guys out there, claiming empathy wasn’t real and that the deaths from gun violence are worth it, a supporter of the ideology that minorities are inherently inclined to commit crimes, would question women’s ability as a group and whether they should be able to vote, among other things that would have gotten you shunned from being a public figure like 10 years ago.
I’m unhappy with what happened to him, but sanitizing the man after his death is not the same thing as having respect for the dead. Hell, if you’re inclined to care about his beliefs being misinterpreted, I’m even seeing people putting words in his mouth about being in total support of Israel in their eulogy (despite him questioning Israel a few days ago.)
I love how all of a sudden the right are demanding sympathy now when they were so capable of it whenever someone who isn’t a MAGA cuck was killed by violence.
Kids die? For our freedoms.
Someone who represents their hateful ideologies dies? That’s an attack on their morals and bigoted world view.
No wonder they’re very upset…
Finally. After 24 hours of even the so called left mourning this monster.
How can we defeat evil when we mourn when evil is defeated? Something to ponder for the more kumbaya liberals.
Let’s not forget: Charlie was to politics what Jerry Falwell was to religion: milking the ignorant and nasty by spouting every vile thing they believe. He was a conman and agrifter and a fraud. He did not represent „Free speech“ as he, like most far right prognosicators, did not actually believe what he was saying, he wasn’t speaking in good faith.
Do not tolerate the intolerant.
Often when people die we look back at the life they lived to see what kind of legacy they leave behind. Charlie Kirk is no exception. The reactions we are getting now from his death is a clear indicator of what kind of man he was in life. If that makes people angry, uncomfortable, apathetic etc… then that is the legacy he has left behind.
I don’t have any fucks to give. I’m not going to bother denouncing shit. Not going to pretend scum wasn’t scum. The ridiculous fixation on non-violence when it is only expected by those under the heel is more damaging than anything.
„A man reaps what he sows“
I asked chat gpt what would Charlie Kirk say about his own death in his own words:
“If Charlie Kirk were commentating on his own death…”
“Well folks, let’s be honest—this is the price of freedom. Sure, I caught a bullet while literally talking about gun violence, but that’s the cost of liberty! Who needs universal healthcare or social safety nets when we’ve got the sweet, sweet right to be perforated at a public speaking event?
And no, don’t you dare feel sorry for me. I didn’t believe in empathy when it was your cousin bleeding out in Chicago or when it was some immigrant kid in a detention center, so why should I suddenly become a Hallmark card now? Fair’s fair.
At least I died in the most American way possible: mid-sentence, defending the idea that a higher body count is worth keeping the Second Amendment intact. Call it poetic justice, call it irony, call it Wednesday in the USA.”
Yep foff that nazi!
He reaped what he sowed.
Meanwhile instead of finding out the shooter’s motive, tons of right wing assholes are blaming the left and talk about civil war etc.
Dem leaders are unequivocally condemning this. GOP leaders including the president are fomenting more rage.
Thing is the right can paint him as an angel all they want, but when all is said and done the man was an influencer, which means there are countless hours of him available that show exactly what he was and what he did, and that aint pretty.
This is what he needs to be remembered for. A loathsome human being with no empathy for others.
