You know, with Charlie Kirk, the more I learn about that guy, the more I don’t care for him

    2. YankeeMoose on

There are SO many triggered folks because of the lack of empathy for Kirky-boy.

If they channeled that energy into something productive, like common sense gun control, maybe we wouldn’t have so many school shootings in the US.

    3. checkerboardandroid on

He didn’t deserve to be violently killed but I also don’t have to lionize him or pretend like he was some fucking hero just because his career built on years of inflammatory rhetoric came back to bite him in the ass.

I don’t see what’s so hard about this.

    4. I have about as much empathy for Charlie as conservatives expressed for immigrants, Palestinians, and BLM protesters.

    5. Former-Counter-9588 on

Oh no. A bad guy who hated minorities, gays, trans, and women died.

Yes violence is bad. No I don’t condone gun violence. No we don’t need to be sympathetic or have empathy when bad people meet their demise.

Anyway. Today marks 24 years since the 9/11 terror attacks. I’m spending my empathy on the victims of that, including the first responders we’ve since lost due to various diseases that developed as a result of exposure to toxins during recovery efforts.

Charlie’s legacy is stochastic terrorism. He may not have pulled the trigger, but he groomed a lot of people into pulling the trigger. Let’s not pretend he was an honest debator or a proponent of free speech, he frequently argued in bad faith and was dishonest.

    7. “I think it’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

you never, ever have to feel bad for sociopaths, especially the professional ones. the man himself would’ve laughed in your face and called you a pussy beta liberal commie loser for holding a vigil for, say, some slain children. lighting some candles for him is laugh out loud insincere/ridiculous. his followers very specifically loved him for his purposefully terrible behavior. they barked and clapped like seals when he shouted SLAVERY ROCKED, COPE AND SEETHE or whatever into any microphone/camera placed in front of him. their social media feeds are chock full of these trolls, they can’t get enough of it

    9. almazing415 on

Never cared for him while he was alive. That sure as hell won’t change now that he’s dead. Empathy meter is in the negatives.

I’m seeing conservatives on reddit get mad that we aren’t sad about what happened. Bitches, you didn’t fucking shed a tear when Melissa Hortman was murdered. You made fun of Pelosi’s husband who was attacked. Get the fuck outta here.

Some of them said they wanted to leave Reddit because it’s „full of bad people“. Fucking go. Leave. Racists and genocide enablers are not welcome here.

Simply quoting Kirk’s own words is the best thing to do right now. It trips up the efforts to repackage him as a saint, while steering well clear of advocating for violence against him.

    12. S3simulation on

He said all of this is okay. He said that a few sacrifices are worth it to protect the second amendment and that empathy is harmful. He died for this belief and probably didn’t have time to reevaluate the position.

    13. I don’t talk much about private stuff on reddit, but I have a sibling who, right this moment, is in a mental hospital as a direct result of listening to Charlie Kirk. They are mentally vulnerable and had no guard rails to scrutinize the things he said about people.

That sibling of mine some months ago got into a car with the intent of plowing into a group of people because Charlie Kirk, their Mesiah, fully convinced them that those people were evil. Literally brought about by Satan sort of evil. My sibling genuinely believed this was a god-given command through Charlie Kirk.

      I wish I were joking.

My family and many friends reported them (they had luckily made a post about it on facebook) and this lead to my sibling driving around the state they live in for 5 days straight. Spent all their money on gas. No showers, didn’t hardly eat. Eventually through the concerted efforts of many people they were caught and since then, they’re in a mental hospital.

They had a diary written of Charlie Kirk’s ‚teachings‘. Teachings that nearly drove my own blood to murder people and themself.

May he rot in hell, if it exists.

    14. secretlyjudging on

I have as much empathy for Charlie Kirk as Charlie Kirk has empathy for other shooting victims.

    15. ShadykillaWolf on

He said empathy is a new term and is a sign of weakness. I don’t wanna show any weakness according to him.

Currently standing on the theory that started when Epstein died and many of us were sure that Bill Barr was involved which was: Pedo 45/47 will go to any lengths to ever have his sickness revealed. Purchasing prostitutes? Survivable. But the association with Epstein? There is no bottom to what he is capable of to fight this.

To this end, the birthday card, Mary Trump affirming this was indeed his signature calls for a shocking sacrifice of one of their own to create a martyr to get everybody talking about something else.

Now back to the birthday card.

Did anyone else see the mods remove a post from r/askreddit regarding the hypocrisy regarding the response to Kirk’s death from Trump compared to the Democrat House Speaker of Florida who was murdered in her home in June. Absolutely insane considering the subs name

    18. I’d never heard of this guy and now just reading loads about him and .. well.. from an outsiders point of view he seems like he was just a sociopath who got off on having the absolute worst possible takes on things to troll people.

    19. Deceptiveideas on

I’m seeing so many comments on social media how they’ll “never vote left again” or “the democrats just lost all future elections”.

      1) These people obviously weren’t voting democratic to begin with

      And

      2) Where was this attitude when a democratic congresswoman was murdered just last month? These same people being outraged were absolutely silent.

    20. americanspirit64 on

Charlie Kirk is in the same class of person and citizen as Stephen Miller, and for lack of a better word he was a total jerk. Well written article I agreed with.

    21. just_a_timetraveller on

They say we need to get over and move on from our children being killed in school shootings. And now that their hate mongerer gets got, they demand mourning.

They cannot take a moral high ground when they have not held the leaders by any moral standard at all.

    22. I was his age about 7 years ago. Back then, I was really into the right wing debate culture stuff, though it was all Milo Yianopolis and Ben Shapiro debating all of the SJW’s back then. It took me time to unpack my hard held beliefs and figure out where my fascination with that sort of thing comes from, before I figured out it was from a place of self-hatred, before I realized how wrong their points of view were. Like Charlie, I also was a father and husband in a Christian home with right-leaning values, but unlike him I have since come to my proper senses, and my children get to have a father now that professes kindness and mercy.

What I mean to say is that I actually did shed some tears for him last night. Not out of sympathy for his cause, but rather that a father that reminded me of myself at that age didn’t get more time. He didn’t get a chance to grow and change. He was robbed of that, and now his career is forever frozen as a time capsule of hatred, bigotry, misogyny, and (worst of all) in the form of a martyr.

Before yesterday, it would be easy to assume he would never have changed. Afterwards, we know he will never change.

    23. Seriously! Seeing all the kowtowing obituaries talking about his family and loved ones left behind, completely ignoring all the times he himself called for violence against AMERICAN CITIZENS who just so happened to be in the LGBTQ Community! No, fuck the New York Yankees, fuck the British Embassy in Washington DC, fuck the reporters who are publishing puff pieces to stay in Trump’s good graces!

    24. Stillwater215 on

I will express as much sympathy as he expressed for the victims of other school shootings.

    25. The media should be talking about this the way they would talk about a KKK leader getting shot at a rally. Denounce political violence sure, but you wouldn’t compliment the guy, or say stuff like he’s a thought leader in his community or a positive role model or whatever. I saw people on CBS of all places eulogising this guy like we lost some great civil rights leader. That is journalistic malpractice – he was a vile hate monger.

    26. Charlie Kirk was a racist mysonogistic Christian nationalist asshole. The world is a better place without him

    27. thewinterzodiac on

The worst part of all of this was there was another school shooting later that day that got 0 attention.

    28. You don’t have to shed tears but everyone should understand that a man being killed for expressing his political views peacefully and calmly is abhorrent and helps absolutely no one.

    29. SymbiSpidey on

I don’t condone his death nor do I celebrate his death. However, I’m also not going to pretend like I give a fuck. I’m sad we live in a country where things like this happen, but at the same time, dude made it his life work to spew vitriol, hatred, disgust and blatant falsehoods about the most vulnerable people within our society. He genuinely believed that his „freedom“ was worth the death of innocents due to gun violence because he valued _his_ „rights“ over the lives of others.

As the saying goes, you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

    30. ShadyCheeseDealings on

If MAGA is this upset about the reaction to his death they are *not* ready for the reaction when Trump kicks the bucket.
