If I were Poland I wouldn’t have scrambled and shot with my best speed but only sluggishly to not give away actual response time and defense capabilities.

Of course it was deliberate. Whuppity doo, ain’t nobody gawn do sheeit. Trump in particular has publicly invited Russia to attack both by words overtly on the campaign trail and by actions with his deliberate lengthening of the war and persistent sabotage of Ukraine and also his relentless attacks on the very concepts of truth and rationality.

The only message Putin understands in any positive way is the type of message sent by Türkiye or Ukraine with missiles. Euro and US voters and leaders won’t defend themselves like that. But. The problem is. All other messages are the US and Europe bending over and asking to be treated roughly, bad daddy. Spank me harder. Bite and hold with an endless series of conquests by an evil empire and we will all uselessly spectate and yeah, that’ll work out ok. Naw. This is dictator 101 and well known to international politics when most of those in nursing homes today were toddlers. This will never end or de-escalate with a normal shrunken weenie post-Cold War kind of nothing response. Russia don’t play that, they are openly a genocidal expansionist police state hellbent on rewarding units for stuff like Bucha and proud and happy to be seen in that light. As even Lavrov more or less admits. “Russia has no friends.” We’re all lucky they are so bad at alliances and that Putin tends to abuse and cannibalize ‘Allies’ as is pathetically admired and copied by Trump.
