WASHINGTON DC – Charlie Kirk was in the middle of answering a question about gun violence in America when he [became its latest victim](https://inews.co.uk/news/trump-ally-charlie-kirk-shot-in-the-neck-at-rally-in-utah-3911292?ico=in-line_link) on Wednesday.

At the launch of his “Prove Me Wrong” national tour, he was inviting members of the 3,000-strong crowd to try to shift his faith in the core positions that animate President [Donald Trump](https://inews.co.uk/topic/donald-trump?srsltid=AfmBOopZyClpVA-jWGc5UAgACJqlNyufL6_L5zw-WtODyS-Q8a75x8HH&ico=in-line_link)’s “Make America Great Again” movement.

Twenty minutes into the event, a member of the audience was challenging [Kirk’s view](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/right-blame-gender-identity-not-guns-nashville-shooting-rcna76969) that “instead of banning assault rifles, we should ban gender-affirming care for kids”. “Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?” the questioner asked.

“Too many”, Kirk answered, eliciting loud cheers from the crowd.

“The answer is five”, the questioner continued. “Now, five is a lot, I’ll give you credit, but do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?” he added.

Kirk sought to clarify the question: “Counting or not counting gang violence?” he asked. At that very moment, a single shot rang out across the crowd, delivering a wound to Kirk’s neck that would prove fatal.

In many ways, Kirk went to his grave at the age of 31 in exactly the way that he lived: unshakeable in his determination that Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement is leading the country towards a great moment of national revival.

The canopy under which he was sitting bore the slogan “American Comeback”. He died wearing a white T-shirt with the word “FREEDOM” emblazoned in block capitals.

At the White House, there was shock as news of the shooting spread. One staffer gasped after seeing the first newsflash on her phone, and raced into the building, in her haste alerting members of the press corps to the attack.

Trump took to social media, first to call for prayers for Kirk, then – less than two hours later – to announce his death. The President knows that he may not have won the keys to the Oval Office in 2016, much less returned to the seat of American power last January, had it not been for Kirk’s “Turning Point USA” movement and its mobilisation of hundreds of thousands of young voters.

Even so, having seen one of the leading lights of the American right cut down by a bullet, and having himself been the [victim of two attempted assassinations](https://inews.co.uk/opinion/second-trump-assassination-attempt-leaves-america-on-the-brink-3278750?srsltid=AfmBOooguyrUqF3N_YLwgfopthLB8-sjhxrSXdjSIpUvvbXqQsWsWuYf&ico=in-line_link) during last year’s election campaign, Trump still has no answers to offer those in America wondering how the country’s epidemic of political violence can be brought under control.

Worse than that, he can also be accused of orchestrating and fuelling a febrile political atmosphere across the country in which political discourse is now pockmarked by the President’s own violent language, his loathing of his opponents, and – in January 2021 – his support for a mob that engaged in a deadly rampage on Capitol Hill.

In an Oval Office address posted on Truth Social on Wednesday evening, Trump calling Kirk “a martyr for truth and freedom”, and said rhetoric from the “radical left” was “directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today”.

So are ICE and martial law by fiat.

The literal nano second after it was announced Charlie Kirk was shot (before he was pronounced dead even) they automatically blamed the „radical left“ with zero proof what so ever.

We will see who the shooter turns out to be, but the immediate and tactless desire to blame the shooter as a radical is telling.

From all the evidence gathered this was a professional hit. I’m not saying a hired hitman yet, but the shooter was clearly skilled to kill Kirk and so far evade the FBI. He might not even be in the country anymore. But yes, please tell me which radical lefitsts do you know that can do this?

Trump’s vitriol is a *huge* part of it.

FBI releases a profile of shooter saying he is probably an illegal trans immigrant Cartel member, released from a South American prison, possibly named Juan (goes by Juanita), who robs and murders white people for fun, while competing and winning multiple gold medals in woman’s sports and uses his Biden supplied Medicare to get gender transforming surgery while transporting tractor trailer loads of fentanyl across the Canadian border and illegally voting multiple times for Biden in at least 9 states.

Part of it? You mean the cause of it?

The media love this they spend so much time radicalising people that when this shit happens they make so much money.

If nothing else, at a time like this, the president should be a calming voice who tries to deescalate the situation.

for the conservatives here- i don’t recall dems shouting how we should declare war on the right *when they murdered a democract elected representative* a few weeks back.

you can bet your bottom dollar that the people in control of the media machine are **celebrating** his murder as the opportunity for division that it is. when pelosi’s husband was attacked there were no calls for violence to the right. when a politician was murdered there was no calls for violence to the right. when democracy was attacked on Jan 6 there were still no calls for violence to the right.

but your propaganda masters saw this tragic event and decided- whoo boy, time to RAMP. IT. UP.

America is cooked and your sports team like obsession with „your side“ is the reason for it.

It is the Christians. They have some power, they believe they have won, and they will inflict suffering on all of us.

I heard he died of a fentanyl overdose. Getting shot in the neck was just sheer coincidence.

Seems a bit much to talk about political violence as response to Kirk’s murder when there’s no suspect and no motive. I’m not trying to put any kind of percentage likelihood on it, but people with a political profile do get „assassinated“ sometimes (in quotes because the word implies political motive all by itself) by people with a more personal grudge. Or by parasocial stalkers, things like that.

Again, not particularly trying to say it’s likely. Only that the desire to get ahead of the story and analyze when you don’t even know the facts is more than a little bit annoying.

The orange face of political violence just lectured the country on incendiary rhetoric.

Another mass shooting has torn through America, and before the victims’ families have even had time to process the horror, it’s being hijacked for political gain. Elon Musk jumped online to brand “the left the party of murderers” before anyone even knew who the shooter was. That’s not just reckless, it’s intentional provocation. It’s designed to inflame divisions, deepen hatred, and push an already fragile country closer to the cliff of political violence. Musk has repeatedly echoed pro-Putin talking points, and now he’s feeding the same narrative of chaos and destabilisation that benefits America’s enemies abroad.

Trump has already pointed the finger at “the radical left,” despite zero evidence about the shooter’s motives. This is exactly how disinformation works: facts are irrelevant, what matters is seeding a story that his followers will cling to regardless of reality. It’s the same tactic Russia uses with propaganda, say it loud, say it often, and drown out the truth until the lie becomes the only thing people hear.

The hypocrisy is staggering. Just weeks ago, a MAGA extremist assassinated a Democratic state legislator, her husband, and even their dog, left another lawmaker wounded, and carried a kill list with dozens more Democrats. Trump and the Republican establishment said nothing. No outrage. No condemnation. Silence. The “pro-life” movement only finds its voice when violence can be twisted into a weapon against their political opponents. When it’s their own side pulling the trigger, they pretend it never happened.

If you wanted to design an artificial intelligence to dismantle America from within, to corrode trust, amplify hatred, paralyse democracy, and hand power to hostile regimes like Russia and China, you would program it to behave exactly like Trump and his enablers. The lies, the scapegoating, the encouragement of violence, the protection of extremists, the undermining of elections, the parroting of foreign propaganda, it’s the perfect blueprint for national self-destruction.

Part of it? When it’s coming from the top, that means he’s *leading* it.

Trump’s vitriol isn’t part of it, it’s (he is) the root cause.

The killing was a government job to fan the flames of civil violence so martial law can be declared in time for the elections and to distract from the Epstein-Trump files.

Weird how we didn’t seem to have armed gunman at politically-affiliated events until mid-2024. Commentators like Rogan and Kirk have always been annoying, and a little loud, but nobody on the left side ever suggested they would assassinate anyone. In fact, the Republican Party and the right used this stereotype against the left. “Leftists don’t own guns lolz! You guys would never win a civil war!”

Now, all the sudden, leftists are being branded as murderous vigilantes who need their firearms taken away. The narrative has shifted, and it all comes back to a guy who’s terrified of being found out for raping children.

The likelihood that Kirk was killed by the very people he built his fan base around would not surprise me.

Trumps entire campaign was demonizing the left.
