I would argue that this former immigration minister did far more to rally ‚anti-immigrant‘ views than Poilievre ever did. Marc Miller completely failed in his role as Immigration Minister and admitted as such during the Trudeau Government’s about-face on the issue. Moreover, his performance was so poor that Carney kicked him out of cabinet over it.
Miller? Him and Trudeau are the ones that escalated anti-immigrant sentiment with their mass immigration policies. Whoever was lobbying the liberals for those unprecedented levels of immigration severely overplayed their hand
Marc Miller was the Immigration Minister that was in charge when immigration rates spiked, to levels far beyond what Canada or any other developed nation could accommodate.
Marc Miller is also the Minister who cited the need of Big Box Stores for the cheap labor that international students provide.
If anyone is responsible for anti immigration sentiments, its Marc Miller because its due to his policies that immigration came to be viewed as detrimental.
