      If it’s an AZ concession – really bad.

Armenia should have a hybrid model where a core of professional contract soldiers forms the backbone of the army while everyone else serves one year of mandatory service for both men and women. After that people return once a year for refresher training so their skills remain sharp and the reserve force grows stronger over time. Territorial defense units would complement this by training locals to defend their own towns and regions using the terrain they know best. This kind of system is affordable practical and creates a much larger pool of trained citizens who can be mobilized quickly if needed.
