This may or may not be entirely off topic, but seeing the response to all the PR stuff around the documentary and biography has kind of hit a nerve. I’m a bit torn on the topic of Sheen’s documentary and biography. He undoubtedly was not the best person throughout his life and had a lot of disturbing behavior and activities. Its entirely possible, or even likely, that this is all just giving him a platform to peddle a fake story to get attention and gain public favor. But I have to wonder what if its genuine?

The things I have read/saw have been surprisingly introspective and reflective instead of outright fluff and white washing, which again could just be a facade. But I have to wonder what happens in a world where people are irredeemable? I look at the political landscape and it seems like a large part of the issue is people just continually doubling down on terrible behavior because there are no real avenues to turn around. Nobody seems to be accepting of an imperfect person especially an imperfect male. Especially when people are happily throwing unsubstantial claims around as fact when there are plenty of substantiated things to critique him for.

I don’t personally give a crap about Sheen or his motivations here, but I have a son that has struggled with drug abuse (which contributed to some terrible behaviors of his own) and it makes me somewhat apprehensive about what’s happening with the young generation of men that are being funneled into the *manosphere* pipeline because they don’t really have anywhere else to go for acceptance.

I’m very fortunate that my son has been in successful recovery for about a year after half a decade in active drug abuse (meth), and he’s trying to be a good person. But for every one of him there are countless more that have just been discarded as druggy trash or radicalized, often, to far right ideologies.
