That infers that Trump cares about national grand strategy rather than his own whims. He does not.
For him it is more important to look big like his friend Putin.
Trump could learn from a lot of people, or simply listen to advisors.
Instead he doesn’t listen to anybody and surrounds himself with moron Yes Men.
The Russians are the abused, traumatized child of the international community. They’ve been invaded at least twice a century for about 500 years by pretty much everyone around them at one time or another and therefore only believe in hard power, centralized authority, and security at basically any cost. Any agreement made with Russia that isn’t backed up with a very large stick that the Russians can see night as well be toilet paper, Russia can only be counted upon to uphold their obligations if the alternative is apocalyptic violence.
