The Roberts Court allows the associate justices to take bribes.
If America ever rebounds from this, he will be the single most reviled American of the 21st century in future history books. Maybe 20th and previous, too.

All of this has been planned for decades. Roberts, Kavanaugh, and Barrett were part of the legal team that got cert and argued before SCOTUS in Bush v Gore back in 2000. It’s very interesting how all 3 of them ended up in SCOTUS. Conservatives have been trying to ruin America since the civil war.

By “a dramatic rightward turn” you mean “and utter lack of credibility and integrity” for the US Supreme Court.
SCOTUS is supposed to uphold the constitution and the laws of our country…period….any administration or partisanship should be treated exactly the same…but no we have to put up with them inserting their personal opinions where they aren’t wanted or needed. They don’t do their jobs and pander to a radical fascist president. Not to mention the BS line of „they govern themselves“ as if the ones consistently siding with Trump OVER the constitution are gonna remove themselves for any reason.

For somebody who grew up in the ’60s and ’70s, this shit is entirely disheartening.
I’m going to repeat something that I regularly have to tell my 13 year old son….
If you want us to trust you, then you have to show us by your actions that you are trustworthy.
It’s incredibly revealing that 6 of the esteemed educated arbiters of the laws of our nation – 6 people that hold the fate of the integrity of our justice system and by extension the entire fabric of our society in their hands – fail that most basic expectation.
The Robert’s court fails that most basic test by any measure. Justices are taking what in any sane interpretation of gift giving are outright bribes. Justices wives are taking in multiple millions as proxies in quid pro quo arrangements.
And from the legal ruling standpoint…
Shadow docket use is increasing notably which is in itself a massive trustbreaker due to lack of public legal reasoning, oral arguments, and comprehensive briefing.
And in many of their public rulings they are unable to use even straightforward conservative reasoning to reach the conclusions they have predetermined, and must rely on archaic serpentine legal gibberish that wouldn’t stand up to Moot Court in any law school.
The sad truth that Roberts and these otherwise intelligent people – and the otherwise intelligent people slavishly kowtowing to the powers that be – have deluded themselves into missing is this…
Though their constant lies, dishonest legislation, and assinine legal manipulations will unfortunately be believed by enough people that it will succeed in shaping society to their whim and destroying our country…

The Roberts court will go down in history as the worst court in American history, worse even than the Taney court ([Dred Scott v. In fact, there’s no sure bet that our American democracy will even survive the Roberts court. He very well could be the man that enabled the downfall of America itself.

The understatement of the year award
This court has been bought and paid for.
Citizens United was the canary in the coal mine, and the media brushed it off like it was nothing. And now here we are – dark and grey money everywhere and nothing works anymore. Our rights are eroding precipitously and we’ve reinvented kings (I.e. untouchable rulers, above the law).
Seems like a pretty great way to steal a democracy.
Democrats should run on a platform of „Trump, Roberts, Alito and Thomas will be jailed, tried, and sentenced for high treason against the United States“. Because that’s literally what’s happening right now.

It’s disgusting that his court just paused a ruling that banned ICE from detaining people based on ethnicity and what language they speak. And of course the ruling was unsigned and unexplained with only the liberal justices dissenting.
