      Americans saw him get up on stage in front of the nation and say people were running around eating cats and dogs in the street with zero proof.

      They heard him say he had a “concept of a plan” vs a woman who laid out one.

      They heard him say: “I wouldn’t be a dictator except on day one.”

      The fact he wasn’t just disgracefully kept off the ballot after January 6th says enough.

      It isn’t just Trump that’s weak and failing, it’s the country as a whole.

      Weak is a bit subjective, especially when he has Congress and the Supreme Court wrapping around his fingers. Gotta admit he has a lot of power right now, but giving an idiot a ton of power will end up with a fail presidency and fuck up the country.

      His recent booing at a sports event might have penetrated his silo and clued him into realizing that a large portion of the country hates him. Which should scare the crap out of him as he’ll lose the House during midterms and then his last two years will be nonstop and multiple impeachment hearings.

      That is if his health holds out that long . . .

      Trump has all the power of being POTUS. Do not discount or minimize the damage to the US he will continue to do.

      It doesn’t matter how much he fails and shows weakness when the press is 100% behind him and let me say this again, he’s in full control of the Executive powers granted to him by the Constitution AND all the powers and illegal actions he continues to take without opposition from Republican controlled Congress and a corrupt SCOTUS.

      Is this news? Many have been saying this now and all the way through his first useless term as POTUS. He’s never done ANYTHING particularly well, save being a SA and racist. He can’t even go a watch a simple tennis match without screwing it up and making life harder on everyone else.

      The thing that’s really disappointing about this framing is that it only has a chance to weaken support among his base on the basis that he isn’t effective enough at being the dictator they want.

      Sure, he could lose support when it’s clear that he’s floundering and making a confusing mess of things. And there’s indications of this already happening– People like Nick Fuentes are complaining on twitter about Trump constantly, calling him Biden 2.0, etc. But make no mistake, him and people like him are only upset with Trump for being too weak/ ineffective at establishing the Christofascist America they were hoping he’d usher in.

      Sorry for being so pessimistic, I know people are eager to see Trump fall. But there’s not much of a silver lining to be found with some of his base potentially turning on him. These people aren’t turning on him for seeing the light and realizing that he’s evil and the last person who should’ve ever been president. If the reasons he loses support is because he’s „weak“ and „failing“, it means they simply want someone who’ll be better at toppling our democracy.

      The article almost recognizes this, saying:

      But then immediately screws up this line of thought by following that with:

      It… „doesn’t“? Really, that’s where the author landed? Anyways, the article continues with a suggestion about the messaging that Democrats should have. And while I don’t totally disagree, we have to remember that talking about him being a failing president isn’t going to move the needle on his base being less willing to install a dictator. The „autocratic threat he poses“ SHOULD be taken seriously with this kind of messaging. His base may waver on their support of him specifically, but not on their support of fascism. I don’t know what a path towards that looks like, but convincing people that Trump is weak and failing sure as hell isn’t going to be the thing that does it.

      America is kinda looking weak and failing all around. Broken supreme court, gestapo in the streets, government protecting a pedophile ~ the fake patriots have taken over, and you’re on the way down.

      I do hope you can fix it, but it’s not just Trump that looks pathetic right now. Your whole country is looking pretty sickly..

      This is why what Newsom is doing is sooo important and effective. He makes trump look weak and flawed.

      Trump’s power is smoke and mirrors. Groups fall in line behind him because they believe every other group already has, and they fear harm from those already there.

      Universities and companies cower because they believe he has control of the money. Those in charge of the money send it where he says because they believe congressional Republicans are in agreement with him. Republican Congress members do his bidding because they believe the voters (and the militias) are behind him. Some governors and mayors allow militia members with ICE badges to terrorize their communities because they believe the military is on Trump’s side. The military complies because they believe the supreme court is behind him. The Supreme Court rules in his favor because they believe he has power.

      It’s all mirrors, amplifying the small flame of a fragile candle.
