I wonder what it’s going to take for everyone to finally start fighting back against the social contract. It’s all a joke at this point
Make no mistake, everyone’s lives will be upended forever by this administration. Including me and anyone reading this.
As a retired military vet who has lived all over the world i see the same things.
One of the most upsetting things about it, to me, is we have such a large uneducated population that you cannot stop it. You can explain it to them. You can show them similarities to other failed or fallen states. You can show them the lies and deceptions in their own leaders.
It will not change their minds.
We have such an aggressively stupid population, and by aggressively I mean they fight against education, that its hard for me to see a way forward without some sort of total collapse or catastrophe caused by this stupidity.
My goal now is to be prepared, and or somewhere else when this country reaps what is has sown.
Honestly this country deserves to collapse for electing a fascist freak like Trump.
You know, I feel like if someone is going to put out an article like this, they are doing nothing but intellectual and moral masturbation if they don’t include „and here’s what you can do about it…“
Don’t waste your time trying to explain anything to those people. They’re in a death cult. They deserve what’s coming.
This “chose to” argument seriously discounts the number of people who are actively being disenfranchised and disregards any possibility of malfeasance.
People who get locked out of voting aren’t choosing…

There is too much religion and church interference
So i live in Kentucky. I am queer, not Christian with a visible tattoo of my non Christian faith. I am disabled with two autistic children who cannot mask and have high support needs. My husband and I speak often about whether it is the right time to try to leave KY – despite living in what used to be considered one of the blue cities, it is quickly becoming not so blue anymore, the University has quietly closed down the LGBTQ department, black professors are quitting due to it becoming a hostile work environment and the Pan African Studies Department is expected to close any time, I won’t be surprised if the School of Social Work closes because it is „woke“, the state department of education signed an anti DEI pledge for K-12. The rhetoric being used about autistic people being „horrors“ and the vaccine bullshit when I have an immune compromised child makes us want to flee to a blue state, specifically one of the western Healthcare alliance ones or Mass, but the logistics are a nightmare and it isn’t really affordable and we would have to build mine and our kids complex medical teams over from scratch.
I didn’t need to have seen other states collapse to see that it is happening here.
I looked into the author because I’m automatically skeptical of anything on Common Dreams and sure enough the guy is a wumao lol

The US has solid blue states and solid red states. The War department will likely find a way to destroy the morale and joy-of-life of the citizens in such places as NYC, LA, and Chicago. But even in blue states the power and money is concentrated in the same groups and people it is in the red states of the US, and those business interests will go on with or without all of us.
Justice is not profitable. It has been discarded in service to the almighty dollar.
I personally know people who voted for Trump only to get laid off because of it. Its difficult for me to feel sympathy for these people.
Sometimes it’s necessary to reset the clock. We’ve reached the tipping point and now it’s time to rise up and reset our democracy. Hopefully peacefully, if not many will perish in order to remind us what our predecessors sacrificed their lives to give us. It’s just our turn.
I think the only possible winning message is for the the left to very clearly assert populism : tax the elites and give the money to the common folks. Period. Not enough people care about anything else , not democracy, not justice, not human rights. Just cost of living. The right will scream communism but you have to stay the course. The issue is the dems dont want that either. But I do think a left populist response remains possible with this economic disaster

Honestly. I’m surprised they haven’t shown trump “the purge” and tried implementing that.
They’ve already deployed nation guard and mobilized ICE to cities for public safety under the banner of “law and order”.
Actions that have rightfully been met with backlash.
You’d expect them to spin it. Say “if you are so against laws and order, let’s see how you are without it.
I president DJT declare that on October XX the national guard and border patrol will be deployed and shut down any and all traffic to and from the city of Chicago from 6pm, to 6am the following day.

Then they send some loosely affiliated thugs in to start fomenting unrest around 4pm, and commit crimes to stoke the flames just like the first purge film. CIA and fbi can’t / won’t trace those people to the admin.
Afterwords trump and co along with their media allies spin it as “this is what sanctuary cities want” and that he wanted to stop and deport all these criminals and tried his best but the mayors and governors stopped him.
We will know, we will be sickened, but a depressing amount of people will fall for it, and the admin will basically be the “new founding fathers” just like the film.
Obviously I don’t want any of that, but I’m genuinely surprised they haven’t tried that yet after all we’ve seen this year and especially this week from Vance and the “sec of war”.
Just turn the movie on trumps TV tell him the admin was the good guy and it was all his idea.
