Dual Canadian/US citizen here. Emigrating to Canada is not as simple as some US citizens think it is. Many still have the „Canada is a haven for draft dodgers“ mentality. Better have a much needed skill.

There are folks who are gay, or trans, or non-binary that didn’t vote for Trump, that are afraid for their lives. I get the knee-jerk reaction to belittle, or claim they are overreacting, but that’s not kind or compassionate at all.
No one is saying to take in hundreds of thousands of LGBTQ+ refugees. We should start looking at case-by-case bases on who we could offer asylum to though.
