I don’t know how it can be a surprise to people that the NDP has gender quotas, we’ve had them since the “woke” 1980s. We nominate equal numbers of men and women, we have equal numbers on all our Party organs, and yes, we require gender parity in nomination signatures. Parliament, by the way, is still over 70% men, so don’t tell me that feminism is dead and quotas aren’t necessary.
I can only conclude some bad actors, and outright bigots, in the press saw the word “cis” in the press release and decided to make this a story, as if it was new and scary. It’s not, I promise you.
He only had to talk to 6 other people to gain that confidence. It would still be pretty funny if he lost some of them.
