I hope they dont arrest me but I think he is not a good president of the Republic, his role should be to represent the country almost apolitically (he needs so much votes to get elected that its impossible to choice a right or left wing figure), howewer the country he is representing and should politically protect is Italy, the fact he advocates for a united Europe implicitly means he is against the existance of the country of Italy so he is doing the opposite of what he should do.
