Lol Activision dumb as fuck for this. It wouldn’t be their vision… which is why it would be good.

Just google greatest filmmaker of all time and you will see Spielberg in top 3

Lol, one of history’s greatest filmmakers wants to adapt your tired franchise and you say no because he wanted full control. Spielberg having full control would’ve made it good.

    3. Ahh.. now I understand why they are making boring predictable sequels.. solid decision making guys

Activision seems very adamant on making another flop of a video game inspired movie I guess.

How the fuck did they think Spielberg was going to screw up adapting Call of Duty? What massive distruption to the canon could he have done? Have the Russians win?

    6. Maybe they think they can get James Cameron.

Edit: now that I say that, Kathryn Bigelow would be quite a catch.

“What good has come from Spielberg’s creative control?”

      I gesture to the ‘90s

    8. Activision was worried Spielberg would be against exploiting workers involved in production.

    9. Yeah let’s NOT have the guy that made Saving Private Ryan and created Band of Brothers, two of the most critically/audience praised works about war, direct the war movie…

Your games are based on his movies. Come on. He helped make the og metal of honor games. If anyone knows how to make a war movie it’s Spielberg

Yes yes you clearly don’t want arguably the greatest director ever to direct your movie…. amazing leadership by more C-Suite douchebags who can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. Dear morons at Activision, if Nolan asks next, you should probably pass on him too given your logic.

There is a small handful of directors who if they make that demand, you just say yes. Spielberg is one of them. Especially for a war movie.

    13. Ah yes I’m confident Activision executives know far more about making movies than totally unproven director Steven Speilberg…

The idea of some EA account manager giving Spielberg notes is pure 2025 dystopia.

The greatest director of all time wants to adapt and you are afraid of the GOAT having full control?

      Morons.

In their defense, has he ever proven capable of directing an epic war film?

    17. Activision was spooked because he wouldn’t put tmnt chugging a Mountain Dew and saying kowabunga dude as they kicked cornholio in the balls.

It seems like CoD consistently makes stunningly, jaw droppingly, mind bogglingly HORRIBLE choices

It’s really quite something to behold

    19. COD games are all about RAH RAH THE WEST! Kill all foreigners! Only the enemy does war crimes!

Spielberg would have injected grey morality into it like all his other war films and Acti isn’t having that.

I understand why they would have hesitated as I’d assume Spielberg went in and presented what he wanted to do and they creators didn’t like it.

Then again is that the right way as the woman who wrote 50 shades of grey wanted full control of the movies and wouldn’t allow any changes from the book no matter how stupid or illogical some things sounded on camera 🤦🏻‍♂️ she wouldn’t budge and that series is a bit of a laughing stick of films.

This is the same company that kept their controversial CEO(?) despite allegations of abuse. You think they want someone to do a better job than them?

Spielberg: I would like to take control in directing the Call of Duty movie.

Activision: We think the fuck not! Get out of here slimeball and don’t ever contact us!

    23. When Steven Spielberg wants control of making a movie, you give him full control!

Imagine a top 5 director wanting to make your franchise and you’re like, “Naw”
