If that’s the case, then they should remove the tariffs on Chinese EVs so those who want to make the switch can – unless the goal is to drive emissions down the throats of everyone.

Wonderful way to make sure that industry never innovates and remains stagnant while the Chinese take over global market share. A few CEOs are worried they’ll lose their bonus this year, so we’re just going to further shield them in the short term, ensuring Chinese dominance in the 2030s.
I think cost to consumers must also be a consideration. I just bought a gas-only car this year. Retired at 67, there’s no way I could afford an electric car that met my needs, even with government rebates. I’ll have to drive the wheels off of my current car. Fortunately it’s a Toyota and should last into my 80s at which point I may no longer need to drive. Tariffs on Chinese EVs should be gradually reduced to incentivize N. American car makers while at the same time making them more affordable to consumers. Car makers should be incentivized by healthy competition, not government protection.
We need a rational party. Liberals/ conservatives only seem like they support ultra rich class while everything below them suffers. I am still waiting for it trickle down, I am 42.
