I hope they fine Meta and X next. US job reports show that US is increasingly hit as well and it’s no wonder considering they are putting tarrifs on 100% of their imports while the EU is only getting 10% of its exports tarrifed.

European leadership and strategic foresight has been absolutely abysmal for decades. Washington has always had too much leverage over Brussels. But it’s like the EU never imagined that a US president would come along that actually used it.
You can imagine a bunch of stiff, legalistic dweebs in thick reading glasses pointing to section 3737383, paragraph 5544478775 of some incomprehensible European statute and having an existential meltdown over this

When Americans visit Europe, they often wear T-shirts emblazoned with the word „FREEDOM“ in large letters. But freedom for whom? It certainly isn’t a reality for all American citizens. As an American, I am concerned for those who are oblivious to the fact that our freedom is slowly eroding right before our eyes.
Our government was designed to have three independent branches, but it seems that some have become subservient to certain individuals. The purpose of establishing these branches was to allow each one to effectively critique and correct the mistakes of the others. However, that system appears to be deteriorating, and without these checks and balances, our freedom will not last.
If this doesn’t make it clear that Trump is abusing tariffs as a form of blackmailing, all hope is lost for the EU.
Dear EU, stop giving in to Trump’s demand. Counter his tariffs with tariffs of your own. Any economical crisis will be HIS fault and the EU can bear this.
Europe is not the US, so they have to follow the rules there.

Most EU countries will grumble, winge, and end up paying up the racket money, in the vague hope the US will turn nice again. They will talk about more independence, a bigger focus on autonomy and then just go buy a few more F-35s and Patriots…
