Ich habe meinen Bachelor -Studenten einige Entwicklungsausschüsse geliehen und heute einen von ihnen mit 4 Merci -Pralinen zurückbekommen. Wie hoch wäre das in der deutschen Dankbarkeitsskala?

4 is generous. Pretty high.
Merci is more expensive than regular chocolate and they picked 4 different flavors so you hopefully enjoy at least two. It’s kind and thoughtful.

Merci is a bit of a marketing ploy. It is good chocolate, not yet a luxury brand, but Storck hit gold when it introduced it because (due to its name) it became the go-to chocolate to show gratitude. Nowadays the packs not only come in all sizes – they also come in seasonal varieties in order to show gratitude at all times of the year.
Some people (Erzieher, nurses etc.) are prone to get these gifted several times a year. Therefore, some people really dislike them.
I, personally, love them and at work I devour every single one. There is no merci I don’t like and if they lie around during night shift, save to say it will be gone (and I will have a very bad conscience) the next morning.
