"Der finnische Einwanderungsdienst Migri gab am Freitag bekannt, dass er die Entscheidungsfindung in Bezug auf abgelehnte Wohnsitzgenehmigungen für Palästinenser vorübergehend aussetzen wird.
Yle News berichtete am Donnerstag, dass Fayez Bassalat, ein palästinensischer Projektingenieur, im vergangenen Monat eine Abschiebung von MIGRI erhalten habe.
Die Entscheidung, Bassalat zu deportieren, folgte im vergangenen Jahr einer Änderung der Einwanderungsgesetze in Abschnitt 35 der finnischen Einwanderungsgesetze, was eine allgemeine Anforderung für ein gültiges nationales Reisedokument einführte.
"Die Anforderung für ein „nationales Dokument“ war vorher nicht vorhanden." Johanna Waal, Direktorin von MIGRI, Legal and Specialist Services Unit, teilte Yle News in einem Interview am Donnerstag mit.
Unter der Auslegung von Migri, da Finnland den Staat Palästina nicht erkannt hat, gelten palästinensische Pässe nicht als gültige nationale Reisedokumente.
Migri teilte Yle News am Donnerstag mit, dass es jetzt die Interpretation überprüft habe. "Ob unsere Diskussion zu Veränderungen in der Praxis führt, ist noch nicht möglich, vorherzusagen," Waal hatte hinzugefügt."

It’s an extremely shitty policy, as are many of their policies.
All political policies should require real world common sense litmus testing. If it doesn’t pass, they need to start over with better staff. They need to get fired like everyone else for shitty working methods.
It is super shitty to retroactively change someones decision. Personally I like the requirement for a national document, because of what happened 2015 in Sweden. But yes this is an ugly situation all together.
While migri are scratching their heads thinking „whatever will we do?“ for the indefinite future, what happens to the people from these countries? They just get stuck in limbo?
Migri is not fit for purpose – it has been broken for a long, long time.
Really eye opening situation. What would happen if, in the future, Ukraine gets so damaged by Rusia that it starts to force countries to stop recognizing Ukraine as an independent territory.
Will they also deport them?
This is a dangerous slippery slope.
