In 2019, Trump approved a SEAL mission to plant a device in an attempt to listen in on Kim Jong-Un’s conversations and gather intelligence. This is in the midst of the nuclear talks at the time that ended up with few results. The mission went wrong and unarmed fishermen were killed. The mission was withheld from congressional committees, potentially unlawfully. With this coming to light, it could easily be considered a provocation by North Korea and could deter any future peace talks. However, if North Korea was able to determine what happened on the raid and nothing has come of it since, who’s to say what Trump and Kim’s relationship looks like today.
I didn’t realize nyt was into writing fantasy stories of late.
Seal team 6, North Korea, Kim Jong un…. capture KJU communication like he is out there talking mysterious plans of world domination.
Thank goodness I never paid for subscription for any of these papers.
Why is this coming to light now? I don’t like Trump but I hate when news agencies run stories based on an agenda.
I also heard CIA sent a TV show host named Skylark to take out Kim.
This has all the fingerprints of a congressional leak. Not to mention the fact that warmonger John Bolton was referenced that he refused comment. Wink wink. Yeah only comment on background and that’s okay….This sounds exactly like a classic DC leak. Something of this nature at this time right when the White House is talking about engaging North Korea on nuclear disarmament. Some people would love to sabotage that opportunity for the sake of more conflict.
Wow this reads like a thriller ! Though I wonder what kind of listening device that could potentially intercept Kim’s communication, despite being planted far from where Kim was. I doubt the SEALs, moving by foot, could have gone far enough to get close to Pyongyang.
