Very interesting!
Splitting the categories up by city/borough makes sense in a lot of ways but I think a lot of interesting info is getting lost by lumping everything else as „The Rest of New York“. The Hudson Valley commuter towns have seen a significant post-COVID influx as opposed to, say the North Country.
So what seems like a Hamptons boom from this chart might actually be a reflection a greater phenomenon of city residents moving to NYC suburbs/exurbs.
I’d break out Nassau County and non-Hamptons Suffolk into its own line. Long Island and „Rest of NY State“ are quite different from one another. And I guess Westchester.
