Polen in der hohen Alarmbereitschaft, als russischer Luft schlägt, näher an die NATO -Grenzen

[Russia](https://inews.co.uk/topic/russia?srsltid=AfmBOorsX18rcH4Eyi85O6fsKEnk6HiyZlAQExtRRhgPDetuj-vTbu13&ico=in-line_link) is testing [Poland](https://inews.co.uk/topic/poland?srsltid=AfmBOoo1fGICPYNNPKVLnW-LEf3XwanfNd5BS2RYlHB4Q2ENb2QAkTeX&ico=in-line_link) with a series of “provocations” that stop short of triggering a full confrontation with a [Nato](https://inews.co.uk/topic/nato?srsltid=AfmBOorZFa6pslm7TPLoEcP4zqQ2kebP-R888KtVyGrjYmIw-5phBUck&ico=in-line_link) member, analysts said.

Warsaw announced on Thursday that two drones had entered Polish air space the previous night without specifying their origin.

“We had two airspace violations,” said General Maciej Klisz, Operational Commander of the Armed Forces. “These two violations were under the full control of national forces and units assigned to the state defence system.”

The incident came amid Russian missile and drone barrages that are increasingly targeting the west of Ukraine. This week, Ukrainian authorities reported a salvo of 15 Russian drones hit the city of Lviv just 40 miles from Poland.

Poland scrambled fighter aircraft and put ground-based air defence systems on full alert in response.

Last month, a drone exploded inside Poland, which deputy prime minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz described as “a provocation by the Russian Federation”, with local witnesses reporting the sound of an explosion.

Poland has been on high alert for objects entering its airspace since a [stray Ukrainian missile](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/poland-missile-strike-deaths-nuclear-war-russia-nato-ukraine-1974608?ico=in-line_link) struck a southern Polish village in 2022, killing two people, a few months into Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
