If our politicians gave a shit about us, they’d pass privacy protections like the EU.

Instead, they’re taking bribes from tech companies to let them monetize our private data.

It doesn’t just put us all at risk for blackmail, ransomware, phishing, etc, it’s a massive national security risk.

Good thing we’re firing a bunch of cybersecurity and intel professionals what could go wrong

    6. why arn’t western intelligence services retaliating in kind against espionage, hacking and hybrid warfare…?

Assume that everything you’ve ever done on the internet and shared through an email is stored somewhere and can be used by foreign forces.

Y’all go ahead and keep TikTok on your phones though.

Don’t make them work for your data, give it to them. They’ve got funny dances!

Pfft, they could have just bought most of it from all those data brokers Americans have literally no legal protection from.

And yet western governments keep trying to pass laws that break encryption and the very ideas of private life.

I don’t see how that isn’t a directly supportive action of attacks like this.

It’s time for offensive behavior. China and Russia have declared war, now it’s time for the west (including the US for the moment) to accept.

Hey no balls, time to earn your GS-15 salary.

    14. Can’t be that hard when DOGE is uploading everything to unsecured cloud servers.

    15. At this point, we should just accept that our complete lack of readiness at a federal level, inability to punish companies who treat user data flippantly, and preference for profit over security is basically a welcome mat. We’re not so much being hacked by China so much as we are just letting them in through the open window.
