      Nothing the grim reaper has to say about Trump matters. He benefitted between 2017 and 2021 from Trump. He continues to benefit now from Trump.

      It’s wild seeing McConnell say this after all these years of supporting Trump. Feels like everyone in politics is just trying to cover their own ass now. Either way, the next election is gonna be a mess no matter who wins.

      If Trump actually got convicted in the Senate, he wouldn’t have been able to run again. That is why the 2nd impeachment was so important right after Jan 6th. We wouldn’t be stuck with a second term dictator and Mitch wouldn’t be feeling late term regret.

      This is why we say that Trump isn’t the whole problem but a symptom. You had a mob, indicted by Trump (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, he knew why mob was there and what he really wanted them to do) physically attack the Capitol to try and round up and threaten/kill members of congress to prevent him from being stripped of power. Yet Mitch and most of the Republican senate failed to stop him that day. So here we are again, stuck in the worst timeline, all because of Republicans.

      And here he is, one of the few men who actually had the power to make it happen (who worked tirelessly to make it happen for decades), and one of the few who had the power to stop it.

      Mitch McConnell may actually be the single most at fault person for this situation outside of Trump himself.

      After 1/6, you could have saved this country by impeaching trump. But you chose cynicism. All Mitch had to do was rally the republican side to reject trump and his anti-democracy and vote guilty. But unfortunately that didn’t happen. Not that it matters to Mitch anymore.

      You are one of the pivotal persons who made this happen, who stacked the SCOTUS. You cannot shout out a warning against that you made and then stand as innocent. No McConnell, you will go down in history as an architect of Trumps horrible presidency and the fears, ravages, America is enduring. You did this fucker.

      This fucking clown allowed it, and was a driving force that built the culture that shat Trump into our laps in the first place. McConnell is a spineless coward, but now he doesn’t have to worry about re-election

      McConnell will be heavily to blame as well. He guilted Democrats into not picking a new SCOTUS appointee before the end of Obama’s term, they didn’t return the favour in the same position with Trump, and got themselves a majority. He’s a horrible person and none of this will absolve him of his direct contributions to anything that happens. There’s a reason people cheer when they hear about health issues for him. He’s a monstrous person who has been directly involved in making this „most dangerous period“ happen. Nothing you do will change your legacy short of ending the cause of this period yourself. Anything else is an attempt to control the narrative around you but it’s too late. Decades of conduct will override a couple weeks of turning on your own.
