At a time of massive cost of living increases, massive corporate profits, stock market highs and record income inequality, ehy wouldn’t workers want to use the one tool they have to level the playing field?

    2. ‚According to Statistics Canada, a flurry of labour action this country hasn’t experienced in decades took place following the height of the pandemic. In 2023, the most recent year statistics are publicly available, the number of days not worked because of labour disputes jumped to 6.6 million — the highest level since 1986.‘

The number of days lost is economically important. However, the politically important figure for work stoppages is the number of workers involved. On that metric it is worth noting a 78% decline since the pandemic.
