Ah yes like the runaway success of British Leyland
They will have to nationalise it in the end no one will take Scunthorpe with the old blast furnaces that need relining. We can call it British Steel and pretend the last 30 odd years never happened,
On the face of it this seems like a good idea given it’s not really economically viable to run a steel company in the U.K. because of the high energy costs.
But as no one is called Nigel any more there is no future in calling it British Steel.
Government forced private monopoly. Sounds like it will end well.
Where was this determination when Teesside steel went under, & the government couldn’t care less?!
You need to produce your own steel as a nation and own the process. It is utterly ridiculous that this even started in the first place.
No domestic steel and you are at the mercy of the world for production of anything.
