If he’s there to give ideas to our government to implement from his manifesto, then he can take off.
If he’s there to do what the article says, then he can do that and then take off.
Guys like this and this manifesto *IS* the US government now and we need to stop pretending they will shake their heads and just go back to the way it was. We need to hear anything and everything in regards to future relations.
My gut reaction is hell fucking no, and might warrant bugging my politicians for this.
Though, the pragmatist in me says well letting your enemies speak the sheer stupidity of Project 2025 could actually be a good thing for us. Like know thy enemy, plus it will help legislators understand how dangerous this individual and movement is.
Aka I just hate every aspect of this and don’t know what the lesser evil is…

I suspect that he does. What I’m wondering is what he hopes to gain by speaking to Cabinet; or if he is doing so simply because it appeals to his ego.
In any case, I hope that our ministers bare in mind that Roberts is a dangerous political agent with his own motivations and goals; and is one who has no loyalty to Canada.

he’s speaking so that Carney’s Cabinet actually understands the Trump mindset, and how can they pivot so Canada can maximize our outcome while still satisfying Trump.

Okay, i am pretty close a partisan Liberal, but this seems like a move someone who has hit a wall will make. This guy giving a TED talk to the Canadian federal government is not going to help us either secure a deal with the US or help us move on if we don’t.
I think this is a little bit of „know your enemy“ strategy here.
Carney isn’t going to be falling for Project 2025, but if there’s anyone who knows the key principles driving the current US administration, it will be this Roberts guy.
This is one of the most evil people in the world in my opinion and I don’t care what perspective he has to share with our government even if we are worse off having not received it from him directly. I don’t think he or his organization should have any contact with our government whatsoever. I suppose this may not be a substantive comment, but we deal with the US administration because we have to. We do not have to do this.
This is straight up “Art of War” type stuff. You have to know your opponents mindset. I really like the way this government is paying attention to experts, even if this is a little unconventional. We need to do unconventional and different in this country right now so bring it on.
Reminds me of the Machiavellian advice. Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. As long as the article is correct about the reason for this session it seems smart.
