SS – China’s latest military parade showcased hypersonic nuclear-capable missiles, advanced drones, and a new cyberspace combat force, underscoring Xi Jinping’s drive to modernize the PLA and project power beyond China’s borders. The event was designed to stoke domestic pride and highlight the CCP’s role as guardian of sovereignty, yet it came against the backdrop of slowing growth, youth unemployment, and a property crisis. With defense spending roughly doubling over the past decade and a rapidly expanding nuclear arsenal and naval fleet, the PLA is narrowing the gap with the U.S. in hardware, but it remains untested in modern war, having not fought a major conflict since 1979.

Lavish military parades do the opposite of flaunting military might, imo. Speak softly and carry a big stick and all that.

    3. Russia has wonderful parades for years. Not a great military.

Americas parade was a joke, yet we knock over nations.

Parades forces are not the same.
