assuming you could buy time indefinitely transplating the rest of the organs, there’s one organ you cant transplant, the brain.

Having an organ transplant isn’t quite as glamorous as these 2 might expect. It is not the bridge to immortality. Maybe if they can make organs for you in a lab but recycling other people’s organs will eventually just lead to a catastrophic event. Not to mention that all of your joints, muscles, and brain would be fucked

yes, why worry about your citizen when you can worry about dying yourself.

    4. The world is doomed to have more and more demented leaders who will refuse to give up power

Cyberpunk 2077 turned into a documentary so fast I almost didn’t notice.

When trump and putin meet i think all they do is play pata cake, like two school girls, especially because of the way they smile at each other. They accomplish so little when they meet it’s has to be true.

      > The authoritarian strongmen Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping have mused on how organ transplants might lead to immortality

These aren’t strong men. These are selfish cowards, terrified of the nature of reality itself.

    8. Our society is so sick that people think it is wrong that two leaders speak about the advances of the science. People are used to idiot leaders. Xi and Putin can be dictators, criminals, what ever you want…but they are not idiots, so it is normal to speak about interesting things. Moreover, is a fucking relief, they are human afterall!

    9. And on the pedestal, these words appear:
      My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!“
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Assuming you don’t have any major illnesses throughout your life time, once you’re older your body is more fragile and can only handle so much. Imagine having recently gone to a heart transplant and now you need a lung transplant at 120 years old?!

No if you consider diseases and illnesses, you have to include cancer. If they develop cancer many types and organ transplant is not enough to eradicate the cancer, they would need some type of additional chemotherapy that is very harsh on the body. Imagine fighting an aggressive cancer at 110 years old? No transplant will help you when chemotherapy wasn’t effective and the cancer has metastasized.

In my opinion, we are far away from being immortal. Until we truly harness the understanding and efforts to combat aggressive diseases/cancers.

My guess is that it’s some psyop bullshit to screw with Trump’s mind and ego.

    12. that’s fine; within 5 years we will all have AI overlords who don’t have organs. problem solved.

    13. American Redditors are preparing drinks for when Trump drops dead, mine is for Putin. Sure, the next man may be worse, but I’m sure as hell that nothing will get better as long as he lives.

Better off figuring out how to upload their consciousness to a robot or computer.

    15. Their fantasies of immortality are heartwarming. As Charlie Chaplain said:

„To those who can hear me, I say – do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed – the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.“

And despite their chat, we’re nowhere near overcoming illness, genetic breakdown, and death. For the best, IMO, imagine the world where a person can live forever like a corporation. That’s the only missing ingredient for the worst future we could ever imagine, if it is still in the hands of those who now wield power globally. Time will march on, nature will see new days with none of us still standing, and then it will be their time to try. Good luck to them when it is, I’ll be gone into history along with these dictators.

    16. If someone claimed that world leaders were plotting immortality they’d be seen as lunatic conspiracy theorists. But here we are.

There has been a few billionaires that got heart transplants later in life. Still died though. Some of them got to live 10 – 20 more years but I’m curious what that felt like with such an intense healing process and cognitive decline.
