The CAQ with their stalwart belief that systemic racism doesn’t exist (And definitely not in Quebec – „Are you saying that Quebecers are racist?“) are bewildering.
It’s like if they keep denying reality, that will somehow make their bullshit true.
This concept of systemic racism is not well received in Québec. Historically, the only two groups we can recognized who were victim of systemic racism were the francophones and the first nations. The francophones based on laws in multiples provinces banning french education and the first nations with the indian law still currently active at the federal level.
This attitude from the federal to attach funds to conditions based on their own virtue is also not well perceived in Québec. We will manage ourselves, we hate when the federal try to tell us how to manage our responsibilities.

So are they committing different crime that is more likely to result in jail time or are they committing the same exact crime but given longer sentences.

I’m not sure what this part even means. Are they committing homicide at a higher rate thus leading to a higher accusation rate? What a disingenuous use of statistics but on par for the CBC considering the topic.
Good for them! This is a good example of tax dollars being wasted. As if you just could spend some money and reduce racism. We already have strong laws, let’s enforce them.
Systemic racism in the courts… You mean like giving people of certain races lower sentences because they had a difficult childhood?
Does this program lead to the reduction in recidivism and crime, and if so, where is the data supporting this? The article does not explore this part of things.
Can someone identify the specific policies that make the system racist? And please do it without mentioning over representation of X group in the criminal justice system because that would only be the symptom.
