      I don’t understand how this story keeps getting news. No Canadian put a bid on it. How is that not the end of the story?

      Unless BC Ferries somehow rigged the procurement process to somehow disqualify some Canadian company that could have and was willing to do it. Like what are they supposed to do?

      The fact that it was a 5 year procurement process is mind-numbing itself. Did the feds not have time to review the process they are putting a billion dollars towards? Guess next time it should be a 7 year process. Really make sure the ts are crossed.

    2. We would probably have to spend an extra billion dollars, just to use $50 million of Canadian source steel.
      The opposition would be all over the government (justifiably so) if they had that big of a boondoggle.
      And they still would if the gov relents, even though they are asking for it now…
