      NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has warned that allies cannot feel safe simply because they are not in direct geographical proximity to Russia, stressing that distance is irrelevant in the era of modern missile technologies, according to Ukrinform correspondent on September 2.

      Speaking at a joint press conference in Luxembourg with Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Defense Minister Yuriko Backes, Rutte underscored that the Russian threat is increasing daily and concerns all of Europe, not only states bordering Russia.

      “The threat from the Russians grows every day. Let’s not be naive about this. It may one day concern Luxembourg and my own country, the Netherlands. Right now, we think we are safe, that we are far away from Russia, but in reality, we are very close—especially in the context of Russia’s latest missile technologies. For example, the difference between Lithuania and Luxembourg, The Hague or Madrid is between five and ten minutes—that’s how long it takes for a missile to reach these parts of Europe,” Rutte said.

      Russian missiles have been able to hit any part of Europe since the 1960s.

      They have shit loads of nukes in Kaliningrad, and have done for decades.

      We can not continue to live in fear of Russia’s nuclear sabre rattling.

      Russia needs to know that if they use a nuclear weapon against a NATO country, that the result will be the NATO rolling over Russia and destroying every bit of the Russian military industrial complex.

      And the people who run it.

      It’s fascinating to me that Russia (and some others) always has two choices, A, to cooperate and make everybody’s life easier or B… and they always go with B. It’s also incredibly tiring to think of.

      Has this man been frozen in ice since the end of WW2? Did somebody thaw his ass out for some reason?

      This has been true since forever… including and especially NUCLEAR missiles.

      England and France are the only countries in Europe that have nukes under their exclusive control. And even if the other countries in Europe were to build nukes: it doesn’t erase the fact that „Russian missiles can hit any part of Europe within minutes.“

      So what fuck is he’s sabre-rattling for? He’s selling something stupid.

      Yeah it’s what comes after that missile hits is what’s the doosey!

      Russia has been outted for lying like they are near peer militarily since WW2. There are 3rd world countries that could probably give them a good run if they are not careful.

      Russia has a China problem now, and with their economy in shambles, and most of the men gone…things could get crazy for them after this Ukraine thing

      Yes, that’s how missiles work. Even the Soviet Union had icbms, everyone with a sizeable military has ballistic missiles with various ranges these days.
