Even if I disagree with him debating trans issues online shouldn’t end with you in jail unless you are directly threatening a person with violence.
Update:
Sources provided where one of the tweets does explicitly call for violence. He deserves an arrest.
Whether you agree or not the way the government is acting over people online has become totalitarian. If you agree with this I promise it only takes the other side to get in power and begin doing this to you and your allies. This is dangerous.
Arrested for tweets in April?
Dude is an absolute loser but this is crazy if it’s the whole story.
The three tweets he is claiming are cause for arrest are on [his substack](https://grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/i-just-got-arrested-again), which is an obnoxious read btw. In summary:
* any trans woman in women’s spaces should be confronted and „if all else fails, punch him in the balls.“
* „a photo you can smell“ as a caption to a photo of people gathered outside from a window, apparently trans activists or just trans people in general
* „I hate them. Misogynists and homophobes. Fuck em“
Uk showing live proof that it’s jailing 6x as many people as Russia for speech crimes each year.
Not a good look for the UK. But not unexpected given they’re no longer a free country.

Shame, reading his substack seems he’s really made being transphobic his personality.
Imagine making your entire life and personality, at the cost of your career, marriage, and the respect of your peers, about your hatred of a minority group all because they pointed out that a dated joke you wrote was punching down and offensive.

How do these things get escalated to the police on the first place?
This isn’t something to celebrate. Hate him for being batshit insane and hysterical, but this shit where you get arrested and detained for something you wrote months ago is fucking dangerous to everyone. It’s fucking insane anyone thinks this is perfectly fine. If you don’t agree with his bullshit, confront him yourself. Don’t let the government do it for you, and certainly don’t cheer them on. It sets a precedent, and while you might be fine with it this time, you are one election cycle away from having the laws turned on you and what you believe in.
