      Trump’s happy, he can now scream at adults to mow his lawn instead of children. Nobody will be mad at him for it. It’s costly and asinine, but hey, it works in his America.

      This what happens when you deploy people for performative reasons vs their for their primary purpose. There is no crime to the degree he claims, so they are useless.

      This is just a trial run to normalize him sending in the guard so he can use them to intimidate voters in democratic cites come election time

      It is a feature not a bug. They do it because they are literally just testing water. They deploy the national guard to do stupid things, to check who would be willing to obey.

      And there is no consequences, so they can bit by bit, try it each time to kick out who is not loyal.

      So eventually one day, one day if they need national guard to do the actual dirty work. They know their order would be fulfilled.

      Veteran here. This is what soldiers do when there’s literally nothing else to do. No mission or training scheduled? Then it’s police call (aka picking up trash), grass cutting detail, and my personal favorite; painting rocks and other stupid beautification activities. This is the life of a soldier.

      Edit: just to be clear, while it’s not weird for soldiers to be wielding a weed whacker, it’s very fucking weird that they’re doing it on a U.S. city street.

      Like I know this is supposed to be hyperbolic because of how absurd and wasteful it is… but landscaping is really expensive. Tbh the hourly pay of a national guard company is probably cheaper than hiring a landscaping crew in DC
