So I had to look that up and… its not the actual chip, its the round disk they are mounted on.

If Europe wants to compete with Taiwan/Korea and long term the USA on production of high end chips it needs to invest multiple billions across decades in both r&d, infrastructure and training up professionals.
Taiwan/Korea already got a major edge on the rest through established fabs. The US is also investing a lot to make production domestic. China also races to copy ASML and their tech for smallest possible nodes.

Until Danish / European semiconductor engineers are willing to work 16 hours a day for US$50 – 60K per year (and can be fired at will with minimal uniinization rights) they will never be competitive against Taiwan and SK lol. Not to mention electricity prices are 2 – 3x more expensive after EU sanctioned cheap Russian energy.
