> On Thursday, one of the lawyers, Mark McCloskey, said during a public meeting on social media that he had recently met with top officials at the Justice Department and pitched them on a plan to create a special panel that would dole out financial damages to the rioters — much like the arrangement of a special master to award money to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
> Mr. McCloskey said that he wanted the panel to be overseen by Jeanine Pirro, who runs the federal prosecutors’ office in Washington that took the lead in filing charges against nearly 1,600 rioters who joined in the Capitol attack.
And further down…
> On Saturday, for example, Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the Proud Boys who was freed by Mr. Trump from a 22-year prison term stemming from Jan. 6, posted what amounted to a list of demands to the administration in a social media message. Among the things he called for were compensation for the rioters “for their suffering and that of their families” and the firing of “everyone involved” in the riot cases.
> “If this isn’t done,” Mr. Tarrio wrote, “we will all hang together.”
> On Sunday, another rioter, Ryan Nichols, a former Marine who was sentenced to more than five years in prison for joining a crowd that shoved at officers in a tunnel outside the Capitol, doubled down on his attacks against the police in a post on social media.
We’re on the road to empowering and enabling vigilantes.
> “I’d do it again given the same situation,” Mr. Nichols said. “They attacked Americans and killed innocent protesters.” He added that “we should have” dragged foes “through the streets.”
Your compensation is we don’t clock you upside the head when we see you in public.

>push the Trump administration into paying them restitution for what they believe to be their unfair prosecutions.
Makes me furious. Those sick people are are now elevated at the level of patriots while in fact they are just depraved terrorists. The GOP is really a criminal organization and the SCOTUS is so corrupt, they end up transferring trash people into heros. Make me feel sick.

If you’ve accepted a pardon, you’ve accepted your guilt.
If you’ve accepted your guilt, what’s the compensation for?
The self-inflicted harm of being guilty of the crimes you’ve committed?
What sort of madness is this?

Traitors can get compensated with a noose or firing squad. Who wants to be first?

How can you ask for compensation??? Surely a pardon indicates guilt for the pardon to take place??
SMIrving on
By accepting the pardon you admit the conduct. The only way this claim gets paid is if the Justice Department offers no defense. I guess that means Bondi will let it get paid.
Mrandmrsdizzle666 on
They are gonna get paid. Bondi controls the negotiating arm for this. They’ll settle out of court. It’s fucking bullshit. I hope the injured dc police officers sue them as soon as they are paid.

I agree with the pardoned rioters, this nation OWES them due compensation…
How about 1 extra life in prison for committing crimes against the United States of America?
Sounds reasonable to me.

Part of a pardon is admitting guilt and being sorry for what you did.

In order to accept a pardon you admit guilt, they deserve only scorn.

They use our taxes for this BTW, this is complete bullshit.

No, an implied part of the pardon is the acknowledgement and acceptance that you committed the crime you were sentenced for. Hell, a lot of you plead guilty to those crimes for a reduced sentence. You don’t get restitution for that, dipshits.

Pardons imply an admission of guilt.
