Varg isn’t just „controversial“ he’s a neo-nazi that has been convicted of first degree murder.
Cancel culture. 🤷♂️
Lol, no posting about Mayhem in the blackmetal sub??
Hahahaha
Gospelbands/boybands only!
When will people stop asking this question & start realizing that the internet is not open world anymore.
The internet is heavily censored and curated specifically for “sheeple”
2015..the entire internet was destroyed to try a push through that low level demon hrc as less of a pos. It didn’t work.
Because those bands would be 99% of the sub if allowed anymore. They’re trying to broaden people’s Black Metal knowledge, not just add more of the same…
They literally just banned all the very popular/mainstream bands. Nothing to do with ideology, you could e.g. post Goatmoon without a problem.
It’s been a leftist black hole for many years.
Reddit hasn’t had „free speech“ for a long time
What’s the controversy behind Behemoth? Used to listen to them years ago
Hyper self-policing reddit + general societal moral high-roading + Groupthink
Free Speech hasn’t been a thing on the internet since the inception of the internet. I don’t get why people are shocked by this. Most countries don’t even practice any free speech they just claim that we have it. Once corporations got involved via advertising they started pushing for more moderation and censorship has always been a thing. So I don’t get why people think left or right wing ideologies pushed for this when it was a thing that was pushed by forces that are beyond mine or your control.
I feel like since Reddit still hasn’t had to kiss the trump ring like meta or had a Twitter files revelation like X did that Reddit is still running at 2020 backdoor censorship levels
Wait Agalloch is banned too? Tf did they do, they’re one of my favourite bands? (Despite breaking up years ago)
Watain is probably banned because of TMZ`s nefarious intervention regarding the infamous „salinated pig blood`s incident“ in N-ew Pork City
„Now hear me , son of man, I, too have shed tears for thy suffering
Yet tears of pity, they were not!
They were tears of Joy!“
Why is Celtic Frost banned?
We’re already in the dystopian future, we just don’t see it yet.
Purity testing has already infiltrated and destroyed the grindcore scene, and is currently ruining the black metal and metal scene in general.
It’s such a weird juxtaposition. Metal is, by its very nature, supposed to be offensive, fringe, free, and uncensored.
Reddit is a totally controlled and censored platform, has been now for years. They did this to pump up the stock on Wall Street, give time for insiders to sell their shares, which they have been doing… here is how much they have been selling: http://www.openinsider.com/search?q=rddt
Reddit is an echo chamber for the left and is heavily censored. Has been for years.
They should create a different sub called “progressive black metal” or “Ethical black metal” I do not know why a lot of these bands are banned but I’m pretty sure mostly has to do with racists views from most of them.
I obviously despise and reject those perspectives, but it’s also something almost intertwined with the genre itself. To enjoy the best of that genre you would have to ignore their racist and radical ways of thinking and focus on the music itself, since black metal central topic is a rejection of Christianity and outsiders ( rejection of non white Scandinavians / Europeans or whites in general ).
Obviously not all the bands have the same views and a lot of them focus their opposition against religions in general, using satanism as a way to protest and reject the religion of British colonizers, in favor of their own traditions and beliefs not because of religious faith but to try and preserve a culture they deem it’s dying because of outsiders, but sadly that tends to mix itself with racist theories and extreme right wing views on most topics.
Wolves In The Throne Room are also on that list and the only „controversy“ they’ve had were being called „hipster black metal“ years ago
