Perfect timing for my new business making turtle-shaped soy sauce dispensers

I know it’s a good move for the environment but I really am gonna miss them. I wonder what they’ll replace them with?

Never seen these before.

Why not just set up a recycling system where the packaging gets cleaned and reused? Banning such an item is so random and damages something culturally special

Are those in the photo actual size, how hard were they to use?

Ordinary folks can’t even have their boba without their paper straws disintegrating in 10 minutes and the richest rich are still traveling in private jets and shit.

japan would riot if they had that ban

I always found the soy sauce in those to be sub par anyway, so I’m glad they’re getting rid of them

Keep a bottle of good soy sauce in your fridge. Buy a new one every year.

Also linsk toa na rticle on fruti stickers, which use dto eb paper, I would curmble tme up intoa tiny ball held by the glue and drop them in the grass at the bsus stop. The edible glue decomposed, and one morning i looked downa nd the grass was full f palstic stickers

As a Canadian I’ve never seen these before, and while I’m glad for the environment, these are so freaking cute (our soy packets are just flat packets like ketchup) and I’m sad I never got to see them irl… I feel cheated.

This is good news. Two-piece soy sauce snappers will be replaced with a single-piece sachet. Less plastic use, less environmental impact through plastic in the environment.

So they’re only banning it if they’re under 30ml, so they’ll just make them 31ml, causing slightly more plastic to be used in a way to get around the loop hole?
I understand they want to reduce single use plastics, which is a great idea. But surely it would be better to ban materials that take X amount of time to degrade? Or make recycling mandatory with more recycling centers to help reduce waste.
When they swapped from plastic straws to paper it seemed like a great idea, but the paper becomes soggy and now ruins most drinking experiences, so you have to use multiple straws if you don’t finish your drink fast enough, which also seems like waste.
And they put a wax coating on the straws/cups and my local area doesn’t recycle anything with wax on it, which seems to defeat the whole point of the paper straws and cups.
I really wish there were better more thought out options, it would be great for more things to be reused and recycled, but it never seems to make that much difference. There’s more shit in the ocean today than ever before and that’s after decades of changes, It seems like the real issue is the recycling centers and waste disposal options. Because that’s how it’s getting in the ocean, it’s not people throwing their straws in the sea after having a milkshake.
Someone in the line is not doing their job correctly. I don’t get how things can be worse today when people are putting more effort in to recycle. Makes no sense.
