    1. I’m going to set this one in the „I can’t bother to give a shit about this“ column. Much bigger stuff going on. Let him call his miniseries whatever he wants.

lol and at the same time, he’s begging for the Nobel Peace Prize!

You can’t make this shit up!

I think Pete H. looks forward to being called „Secretary of War.‘

Skip a few steps and just name it the Ministry of Peace. Minipax for short.

    5. This may be about the only honest thing that this administration has done so far.

The department of defense is not about national defense. It is about the projection of hard power and beating up people we disagree with.

Yup, renaming it the Department of WAR will certainly make the Nobel Prize Committee take notice that Trump is a real hypocritical clown 🤡.

Remember the first time you saw Star Wars? The United State of America, under the current administration, is the fuckin Empire.

It really has just become a ‚little boys pissing contest‘ at this stage.

It will cost many millions just replacing every sign or piece of stationery, any written or printed reference to the Department of „Defense.“ What a waste of resources just for one egomaniac.

    10. Let’s see:

Overall, it’s a waste of time and effort, and (like Gulf of Mexico) becomes another stupid thing for MAGA to get upset about when not everyone goes with the change.

Department of Defense is admittedly a poor name, this isn’t exactly worse. But it’s arguably a (concerning) over-correction. They do more than defend, but they also do more than conduct war – our nuclear program is arguably for defense through MAD, as are many of our overseas bases that are for deterrence (not all are). Our navy also engages in anti-piracy as well as freedom of navigation exercises. Department of Military would be an apt, generic name if we decided a change is that important. The implied emphasis on conducting war makes it sound like they want to start more wars.

May as well rename the Department of Health to the Department of Death now.

I keep saying it and it just keeps proving itself true … The GOP wants to take America back to the year 1900.

It’s like there’s a think tank dedicated to coming up with the most psychologically disturbing changes to federal policy that can possibly be thought of and they’re filled with top talent. Just cartoonishly horrifying shit every day.

GOP before the election: „Harris/Biden and the Democrats are warmongers! If Harris is elected, she’ll just lead us into more wars!“

GOP after the election: Renames a department to literally be the Department of War.

      Man [are people stupid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPMMNvYTEyI).

„Illegally“. Moves forward on plans to „illegally“ rename the DoD.

The name is set in law:

      >There is here by established, as an Executive Department of the Government, the Department of Defense

There is no way that the Executive can legally change that name without an act of Congress.

What he could try to do through EO:

      * Direct that all executive communications, websites, signage, uniforms, etc. use the new name. The official name, still used on all legal documents, would remain the DoD.
      * Create a sub-agency within the DoD.
      * Could try to use a signing statement on an unrelated bill he signs
      * Just do it, arguing unitary executive theory and Congress doesn’t care to do anything about it.

Let me guess, the rebrand will cost $1B and 98% of that will go into he and his friends pockets.

Hegseth has such a hardon for playing a tough guy when we all know he’s a self-hating soft boy.

    18. Why not the Department of WWE? We could turn the Pentagon into a venue for 24/7 wrestling. Kid Rock can open a restaurant. It’ll be yuge.

    19. INFO: How much is that going to cost for re-labeling: buildings, stationary, and whatnot?

I’d like to know because it’s my tax dollars.

Otherwise, unless my congress critters voted in favor of this… hey, 47 pay for it yourself
